Ultimately the person who is responsible for the destruction of lives in Colorado is the shooter himself. He is the one who should suffer the punishment for his crimes.
While I do not believe Hollywood should be punished for another person's crimes, I do believe that the entertainment industry needs to be more careful about what they put out. It is arrogant to believe that the free expression of art trumps the reality that what we create affects people for good or bad. Because we all live on this world with each other our responsibility to the good of society overshadows our responsibility to be true to our artistic expression.
This I do not say lightly as I am an artist myself.
In ones opinion, Hollywood is responsible for influencing, fostering and encouraging inmorality and violence. The viewing audience is responsible for what type of movies they choose to see or not to see.
