It seems to me that the BLM is simply desperate to approve this project. Doing
so will ignore all the science to the contrary. It is true that the water flows
in the valleys is all interconnected, and also not in huge supply. This year
there was not so much snow, and there's not so much groundwater anywhere.
What's wrong with human beings that we don't seem to be able to live
in harmony with our natural surroundings? There is not so much for the taking!
There is not so much for more people to use, not for growth in Las Vegas or for
growth in Southern Utah. Even having "rights" to water doesn't
mean "abracadabra the water is there for the taking." Water is
dependent on climate and yearly snowfall in the mountains we take it from, and
humans can't live without it. So humans must never plan to maximize its
use--we are most likely to die in the desert if we plan that way.
