All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke --this quote should also be used to say, the Penn State
thing is but a parable of what American society is doing today, letting the most
vulnerable go unprotected as it pursues money, fortune, fame, entertainment,
hedonistic things....how sad, that we allow the destruction of the innocence of
youth, look the other way in our selfish seeking of pleasure, or to
"win" that which has little lasting meaning, while allowing such hurt to
the rising generation...
When you find a problem turn over the rock and you will nearly always find
liberal thinking as a cause. Paterno should have been forced to retire at 65,
not allowed to break the accepted rules by hanging on. Instead he kept on at
the helm when he undoubtedly lacks some of the mental ability to manage
something as big as Penn State football. His first instinct was to protect his
coaches and the program. He had lost sight of the big picture. Further,
allowing a homosexual work in the men's football program, to tour the
men's showers and deal with children is inviting trouble. This is the root
cause of the problem. Jerry should have been fired long before and forever
banned from school facilities. The school creamery had a special sundae named
after him. Google Sandusky Sundae and you'll understand how commonly known
was is exhibitionism.
I can agree that this is a very sad state of affairs that is still coming out
over the Penn State scandal, I for one don't believe all the questions will
ever be answer, or just how deep it goes. One person has passed away and I
don't believe the others will be willing to go and talk about it. Joe
Paterno has alot of blame on him, but he did do alot of good in his time with
Penn State. I've read alot alot of article about people in the State of
Utah doing crime against children that are in roles were they should be done the
same way as some are talking about Joe Paterno, so until you call for the action
to be taken you must be willing to do the same when people in your state do
crimes against children.
Next stop: (after criminal charges settled) civil suit, not just against
Sandusky who is still collecting a pension, but to those who failed to take
action. Penn State could be hurt financially.
Paterno is culpable and should be remembered as such, but as for the
administration at Penn State, Hi-ho the dairy-o, to prison you must go. They
were knowing facilitators. A driver of the get away car after a bank robbery
does not escape punishment.
I lov-ED Joe Paterno. He probably should be removed from the Hall of Fame. I
can't believe I'm actually saying it but to know your top assistant
was raping little boys and to not do anything makes you complicit with the
crime. If I had knowledge of any abuse towards children, I'd
wait to call the police for 5 minutes...after personally exacting some
"physical" penitence from the scumbag who was committing the crime.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke
Paterno should be removed from the hall of fame. His infamy is so much the
