Look on the bright side Cougar fans. BYU can now schedule a team that will improve BYU's strength of schedule.

I wonder if USC and Stanford will stop playing USC now because their schedule will be too difficult. Hill just tarnished his Legacy in one bold, dumb decision. Maybe he should have asked the players if they wanted to play BYU. I doubt the U players would have said, "no that will make our schedule too difficult."

How's Dr. Hill doing with the other sports? He is, after all, the athletic director, not just a football guy. Seems like the other sports are all in the middle of the pack (the Red Rocks rock, but that's about it, isn't it). Oh, and then there's basketball...talk about exciting: The runnin' Utes are running right off the floor and out of the program.

I'm one Coug that can do without the Utes. I will root for them casually, glad to know when they win, but will only read the headlines. I won't miss the rivalry game at all. I wish them well and I think the Cougs will make their way just fine.

I meant to say. I wonder if USC and Stanford will stop playing Notre Dame because their schedule will be too hard.

Chris Hill kills 100 years of tradition- I think this call for a 'Max was right.'

I have grown weary with the bad blood of the rivalry but will admit to feeling empty with the official word of no game on tap in 2014 and 2015.

Life goes on though. Go Utes and sometimes Cougars.

Utah-Hawaii Alum - "College football is evolving quickly these days. Utah has a very demanding schedule now."

Arizona State, UCLA, Northern Colorado, Arizona, Colorado, Washington St, Utah State, Oregon State - Wow! I see what you mean, this is a very demanding schedule. Lol. Somehow, I don't think any team in the Top 25 would see this a a demanding schedule. But for a team that hasn't finished in the Top 25 for a long time, it probably is a demanding schedule.

Don't worry UHA, someday you'll get there.

Good riddance! I won't miss BYU in the least. Good job Chris Hill. Go UTES!

Smart planning by the utes. Losing to BYU will not enhance their reputation. Perhaps if they continue to lower their eligibility requirements they can recruit SEC-style.

Don't put all the blame on Hill.... lets not forget Holmoe could have prevented this by agreeing to a 2 for 1

The time machine worked, although something doesn't seem right?

Utah 1985 fans are now BYU 2012 fans! Everything is upside down.

If you take every BYU fan response on this site and back-date it to 1985, it will be exactly what Utah fans would have been saying had mighty BYU decided to stop the rivalry game. When they were the top dogs, the largest fan base, the best football program, the team people around the country know about. Had they drop the game back then, Utah fans would have cried, complained, called BYU chicken, etc. While BYU fans would have said big deal, we don't need Utah on the schedule.

Yeah Cougar fans, that is where you program sits today. You have relegated yourself to Utah 1985.

That the rivalry game would go away, along with Utah State, reflects badly on Utah. But predictable given the horrible state of college football right now. However, doing so for Michigan is just stupid. Something that should NEVER happen in college football is for the same teams to play twice in the same season. And any games between the Big Ten and the PAC 12 during the regular season should not occur. The only way they play should be the Rose Bowl.

JD Tractor said, "Booooo Utah. The ball was in your court and you dropped it. BYU carried your program for two decades and this is the best you can do?"

JD, please explain how BYU carried Utah for the past 2 decades because I didn't see any BYU players at the Sugar or Fiest bowls. However I did see a few Y players at the 54-10 game :).

chris hill has been a whimp for years. he has been the luckiest AD in the country. not that many years ago alumni wanted him out. i suspect that is coming again soon.

Bob from Santquin,

You do understand that in a few years Utah's TV revenue will be about 4 time more than BYU's ($32MM vs. $8MM). A piece of the BYU TV pie sounds really nice Bob but I think Utah will stick with their current gig. Thanks

Now with Utah off the schedule we can add one of the many schools that have been lining up to play us.

So which is better? Utah in the PAC 12 or (soon) BYU in the Big 12/16 with Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, WVU, TCU... in the end both schools will get a great deal and the State of Utah will benefit.
