I commend Harvey for making this decision. Best of luck to you Harvey and you will never regret doing this. Yes there are things in life more important than football and deciding to serve your fellow man, and hopefully bring them knowledge and light, is one of those things. I believe you are setting a great example for a lot of young boys that will one day face this same decision.
Once again, well done and best of luck.
@ Represent Blue,
I don't care one iota about what you think you know, or aspire to, or what you think about me. You may find me detesting, but that is your problem, never has been mine. I left Utah in 1997 for a myriad of reasons, only to RARELY return there for work. I know EXACTLY what goes on in Utah, and that has continuously proved to be shameful. I am a real "Romney," sir. In essence.......I never, ever, ever, looked back my friend. I say this respectfully. And, I wish you the best.
Great choice by Langi and I wish him a great experience in Florida.
I am sure he will honor his commitment and return to Utah.
Now, the bad news.
u25 said: "..several major y recruts have transferred to the U. my oppinion it will be a 1 way street to the north with the likes of Jake Murphy, Ryker Mathews, Tanner Hinds... All JC kids wanted by both schools have gone to the U every one the last several years."
JC transfer Joe Sampson was offered by both schools in the 2011 class and will likely be one of BYU's starting safeties this year. Ooops.
I'd love to see your list of "major y recruits" that have transferred to the U. Jake Murphy went straight on a mission, so there was no transfer involved. Who else are you referring to? Are to telling Kyle to go after Ryker Mathews (who already redshirted and is a likely starter at BYU this fall)? You realize that would be a punishable NCAA offense, don't you?
Utah is just fine! Langi NEEDS to go to BYu. That is fine.........please let Utah find guys to "play" for Utah.
Bluto
You are the best recruiter for the U on this site.
Moreover, BYU offers something the U can never provide....
-College Towne Atmosphhere-what are you taking about
-Superb Social Life...60k students between BYU and UVU-give me a break
-Big Time Stadium (ranked 25-27th Nationally in Attendance every year)-SO WHAT!!!!
-Legacy/National Brand Program-20 to 30 years ago Army was the talk in the 30's and 40's
-17 National Award Winners (including a Doak Walker Winner with 3 former Cougars Running Backs currently in the NFL.-There a more Utes playing special team than byu running backs
-National and International TV ESPN & BYU-TV...Every Game!-Mormans are watching no-one else
-The ability to play games all over the Nation etc...-except on Sunday
Again, keep it up the good work on behalf of BYU recruiting.-and Utah recruits and as for Hawaii Alum keep it up you have just as much to say as anyone sometimes I don't agree but isn't great about being a Ute instead of a byu cougar robot. Grrrrrrrr
Harvey,
I commend you on your wonderful choice. You will be glad for the rest of your life that you decided to serve a mission. Nothing is worth missing that opportunity, and you are a fine example. We fans support you, wish you the best, and are excited to see you play in two years when you return.
