Isn't August here yet?
"Notre Dame finished the year with a 6-5-1 record. And the Irish haven't really been the same since" Call
I love how Jeff Call is insinuating that the decline of ND football is mainly attributed to the lose to bYu. Very typical.
I was at that game in 2004 and BYU knew of the significance of that win, esepcially since the program was going downhill. To beat a team like ND in the middle of that was awesome! The next game at ND should have been a lot closer. Watkins admitted the atmosphere got to him and he missed some huge passes, especially some bombs that would have been touchdowns if he could have held on and caught them. Charlie Weiss I remember talked about how he was nervous about the average size of, I think, linemen. 325 on average or so. Proved to not be much of a factor, but I remember how nervous he was about it.
I'm glad there was an article about the series history. I didn't know about the previous 4 games really.
Thanks for writing about ND this week. It's gotten a lot of BYU fans excited about this series for years to come!
AD NAUSEAM... Come on Deseret News... a four-part series on the dormant, one-sided BYU vs. Notre Dame rivalry? I realize that this is a slow news month... but COME ONE! I guarantee there's not a publication in South Bend that will even mention this game until mid-October. Quite frankly... both programs have been mired in mediocrity for years... and haven't been in the national conversation since the mid-90's. Jeff... since your at it... why not draft up a 4 part series on the status of the Jazz versus Trailblazers rivalry.

I though the article was very interesting, so if you want, you could just not read it..?
I was at the 1994 game also. Their stadium was not the best. We were packed onto wooden planks for seats and endured heckling by home team fans at the first of the game. Then came the silence. So, so sweet.
