Seriously guys. This isn't the full quote, also trying having an opinion that is not lock step with Fox News(they pulled this same cute editing trick too). In the rest of the quote the president says that what they can do is to prioritize the way that we deport illegals, ie: if we can only catch a percentage of illegals (we don't have an unlimited enforcement budget) why is the focus on otherwise law abiding people? Just try doing some research before just accepting what anyone (but especially fox"news")feeds you.

BO thinks he is a King. I see him as trying to be a Dictator. If we don't vote him out he may succeed!

Obama has done nothing beyond what most people consider. "logical and fair". Even Marco Rubio has a plan in the works which is essentially the same as what Obama decided upon. Karl Rove and Bill Kristol also believe that this is the right thing to do. And Texas Governor Rick Perry also was in complete agreement in not punishing the children brought into this country illegally by their parents and then raised as "Americans" in every way except citizenship. However, Perry was skewered by the Right-Wing for being human which explains why Obama is being assaulted by the wingnuts today.

Only the nativists are up in arms. Like many other changing cultural realities that dot the political landscape, it won't be long before the troglodytes haven't a leg to stand upon in their desire to take America back 150 years. The cannot "stand" that American is becoming "less white, less Christian, and less Euro-centric. Hispanics are the fastest growing demographic in the United States. It is not realistic (not socially, economically, or politically) to not have a positive solution to this issue.

And the next greatest growing demographic are Asians.

Mad Hatter,
you missed the point with Marco Rubio. Senator Rubio was trying to go through the LEGAL process of the LEGISLATURE changing the law, which is their responsibility under that old rag know as the CONSTITUTION!

BO does not have the authority to exempt an ENTIRE CLASS of people from the law. He SAID SO in March 2011 and AGAIN in Sept 2011. Either he didn't know what he was talking about on those TWO occassions, or he was lying. Actually, either one is a good possibility.

And anyone who disagrees with you is a troglodite? Ah, the typical "tolerance" of the left rearing its ugly head, once again!

One of the things that makes America great is the populations' respect for the "rule of law".
We may not always agree with the laws, or if we are found violating a law, we realize our mistake and try to make it right.
Without laws, we will have anarchy.

Thats why immigrants who arrive the LEGAL way also respect those rules, i.e. they see that things are different here than in the country they left.

THATS WHY Obama's pandering to hispanic groups won't work.

Why would someone who has gone through all the steps to become a citizen the legal way support the lawbreakers?

President Obama's campaign is desperate. Apparentally the only thing they can come up with is this quasi-amnesty stance. It won't work. LEGAL hispanics want jobs. This only makes things worse for them.

I ain't worried about it. And you weren't going to vote for President Obama anyway.

We are a great nation because we respect the Constitution, not because Obama is President. He's just one in a long line of Presidents who have sat in the Oval Office. He, alone, has the distinction of being unable to perform the duties of his office. Even Jimmy Carter didn't go around wringing his hands and looking for someone to blame.

Surely someone told Obama that he would have duties to perform when elected. Surely he knew that he wouldn't be able to spend ALL of his time on the golf-course or vacationing.

Each President takes an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution. His most important duty is to see that the laws passed by Congress are honored and obeyed. He refuses to do that. The American People have learned that Obama's oath means nothing.

Hilarious to watch all the repubs who are blasting Obama for this when one of their own was coming up with this exact same plan (Rubio).

Repubs, yeah we get it, you don't like and won't vote for Obama. But that wasn't going to change regardless of which position he took in regards to immigration.

What should be more concerning to you is how your party keeps turning its' back on its' own ideas when they're essentially copied and pasted by Obama. Or what should be concerning is how you will win this next election without the Latino vote.

I can't wait! 4 more years!

Considering the years of Republican deliberate obstructionism Obama was just doing what he had to do to be fair to some innocent young people. And, I think that it will be found to be legal as well. But then it does hurt, doesn't it right wingers?

Hutterite,
I thought the president was sworn to uphold the constitution regardless of who was going to vote for or against him

Maverick,
see my post from 4:23 yesterday, where I explained under the constitution the CONGRESS (Rubio being a member thereof) writes the laws. And the president does not get to pick and chose which ones he will enforce and which he will not.

I understand now why you comment as you do. Your post evidences that you know NOT the difference between congress and the president and what their differing roles are under the constitution.

I also realized you are not even reading what those who oppose BO's abuse of power are writing. They are not writing so much that they disagree with the amnesty being given, but they disagree with BO's abuse of power.

Mike in Cedar,
Why didn’t BO address immigration when he had both houses of Congress? Why now, if not to pander. And why does he do now what he twice said he did not have the authority to do if not to pander? And why is the senate obstructing the 30 jobs the house passed?

Lost in DC. You have been watching too much Fox News. The House passed the Dream Act and the President was willing to sign it. But in spite of a majority of Senators in favor, Republicans used the Filibuster to block passage - this is an obstructionist tactic Republicans have used more often during the last three years than in any time in recent history. In any case Lost, "having" both houses of congress does not in itself guarantee passage of legislation.

Presidential pandering or not, it was the right thing to do because there was no real chance any time soon for corrective legislative action.

Politically speaking, Lost.. this is just one that you and yours -lost.

Next month we will celebrate the days of 47 and the pioneers who settled the Salt Lake Valley. But less talked about is the fact the pioneers came here without permission or a legal sanction from the Mexican government. Yes they were illegal immigrants and to boot they took the land without paying for it. If we can find a purpose in celebrating our '47 pioneers perhaps we can find a reason to accept those that have come here with a far less pretense.
