"Perkins said the bill would penalize a poor mother who simply withdrew money to buy milk if she used an ATM in a banned establishment to do so."

Why does she need to withdraw cash to buy the milk when she can use the debit card to buy it?

And what is she doing in a "banned establishment" in the first place? Not that she cannot legally go there, but since she cannot patronize it on public assistance, what's the point of even being there?

Ouch!! You're asking questions that make sense and which would take a contortionist to refute.

I always thought the purpose for welfare was to provide for the family and not to fund a drinking habit.

It's interesting what liberals believe. I had a recent discussion with a liberal associate who said we should give single mothers MORE money even if they are using what they are already getting for drugs and booze and NONE of it goes to support the child. Her reasoning? There are wealthy people who make tons of money on interest income, and do not therefore have to go to a job. I cannot see the connection.
