At least in this state the two predominant means of offerings seem to have their own pros and cons that vary depending on who you are.

With the LDS church you don't have to worry about awkward plate passing, but you do have to have awkward tithing settlement (at least it's awkward for those who aren't full tithe payers) and tithing is necessary for things like temple recommends. So that system is better for people who are full tithe payers or people who want to give 0 but worse for people like me who only wanted to give a few dollars a week.

With churches like the Catholic church I attend now or the Methodist church I attend when back home with family, there's an offering plate so that is more awkward for people who don't want to give anything. The lack of tithing settlement though makes it easy for people like me to just throw in a fiver each week and not have to worry about ramifications.

As for this digital system... the way things get hacked nowadays I'd prefer to limit my online transactions.

Even in the LDS church I think you can donate online now. With the exception of Fast Offerings and the ward missionary fund that has to go to your unit. i seen it before not sure how it works now though.
