Knowledge is power. Allowing a mother to see the living unborn child she is about to abort could save a human life.

At least they left the woman an option to "opt out".

Pro-life should include what happens after the child exits the womb; unfortunately the "pro-lifers" couldn't give a rip about that. Once the child exits the womb, it's on it's own baby.

"Once the child exits the womb, it's on it's own baby."

Lucky is the infant who's birth parents live together as a family, and who love and nurture their children. Those who place value on human life also believe that it is the parents and not the neighbors or society in general who have the responsibility to raise their children.

When parents are unable to fulfill their duties those who are pro-life are willing to step up to the plate and adopt those babies. It is what differentiates them from the liberal mentality.

@Rifleman;

You have no clue what the "liberal mentality" is.

I am absolutely Pro-life - I'm anti-war, anti-death penalty, anti-abortion BUT, it isn't my choice to make for anybody else.

The "conservative mentality", on the other hand, is make sure that fetus gets carried to birth, but then it's on it's own (and we'll send it off to DIE in a war when it reached the appropriate age; how is that "pro life"?).

But, you're right. It is the parent's responsibility to raise the child. Can I opt out now of my taxes supporting those heathen deadbeats who don't, or, as a "single" man, must I continue to subsidize them?

As long as there's an opt-out I'm okay with this. I'm not sure why people treat women as if they're stupid. They know full well from the moment that pregnancy test comes back positive what they have inside them, it's not about knowledge, it's about trying to guilt them.

" .... it's about trying to guilt them."

There are several reasons why women feel guilt after having an abortion and I quote: "First of all they just killed and took the life of an innocent baby that could have turned into a very talented individual. They also may feel guilty because they weren't sure if they wanted this baby or not and this could possibly have been the biggest mistake of their lives."

Does it hurt to give women a chance to avoid the guilty many of them suffer later?

Re: Rifleman,... that could have turned into a very talented individual.

A. The mother of a family of 14 is pregnant again, The mother herself is already worn out from trying to care single-handedly for her large family and doesn't feel she can care for another child at this point. one of the children is in a mental institution. Abortion or Not?

B. A poor black family in the South is expecting a fifth child. This family, because of its skin color, already has difficulty receiving help and are already at the bare minimum poverty level. Abortion or Not?
C. A woman is engaged to a man she finds out that she is facing an unplanned pregnancy. The child she is carrying is definitely not the son of her fiancé, and he is worried for her sake and for their reputation in their community. Abortion or Not?

A. If you answered Abortion for A, You just aborted Ludwig Van Beethoven!
B. If you answered Abortion for B, again,! You just aborted Martin Luther King, Jr.
C. If you answered Abortion for C, YOU WIN THE GRAND PRIZE! You have just aborted Jesus of Nazareth.

@Rifleman
So you'll concede my point that this has nothing to do with informing a woman but only has to do with trying to make her feel guilty? Small wonder they feel guilty after going through with the procedure, what with people like you around to call them murderers.

This so called "bill" is absurd... I would even go as far as to call it psychological abuse. Do all of you pro-lifers seriously think that women make the decision to have an abortion on a whim and without much thought? Women will have abortions if the situation calls for it, regardless of ridiculous bills such as this.

@donn- If Beethoven (or anyone else, for that matter) were to be aborted, another person would simply take their place in the world.

And on the other side of your argument, what if Hitler, Stalin, George Bush, or any other tyrannical leaders had been aborted? Where would we be then?

The fact is that no one except the woman who has conceived knows exactly the circumstances in which the fetus was conceived, her own mental, physical and financial state as regards her ability to bring another child into the world, her fear at being completely unable to cope and about the plans that she has for herself in the long term. There are many personal reasons that a woman may have to have a pregnancy terminated.

A fetus is not viable until a certain point in gestation, and cannot survive on its own before that time. Until such time it is not considered an individual/person in its own right and is therefore up to the woman to decide what is best for her body, her life and eventually her baby when she chooses to have it.

Abortion is legal and no woman needs to feel guilty for having chosen to go that way. The fierce war between people who have differing views on the legality of abortion has turned it into a war that is hurting women, as people go out of their way to minimize women's problems and conflicts both before and after an abortion...promoting guilt.
