President Obama is urging Congress to take up his proposal to cut through the red tape that prevents so many homeowners from refinancing their mortgages and saving hundreds of dollars each month. This is a problem confronting Americans across the country. Millions of families who bought homes before the financial crisis, and have been paying their bills on time every month since, are locked in at the high interest rates of the past. Even though they have done everything right, they can't refinance at today's rates, which are historically low. If these folks were able to lower their rates, they'd have more money in their pockets each month. That's good for their families, their local communities, and the nation's economy. Former President Bill Clinton said that the U.S. is already in a recession and urged Congress to extend all the tax cuts set to expire at the end of the year. Clinton, like the president, blamed much of the nation's economic woes on the foreign-debt crisis and politics.
As long as Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats are in Washington D C, no one’s property or liberties are safe! Far better that you take the recess, the longer the better!
Long recess for these career politicians goes right-along with their salaries, pensions, and life-long medical coverage, they have voted for themselves.
It's high time for a 2-term limit for Senators and 3-terms for Congress, and no recess!
Join the tea-party revolt. Throw all incumbents out!
poor nancy. Doesn't she know how irrelevant she is?
A "do-nothing" house is much preferable to the "do damage" house of which she was speaker.
Igualmente,
Let's just have one term for everybody. Obama is more of a campaigner than president, and a waste of time and money.
These positions are a service, and not a career.
Another great change would be getting rid of a "conflict of interest". People on the dole should not be allowed to vote.
Re: "Congress shouldn't take nine weeks of recess"
Hey -- do us all a favor and take 9 months. EVERY time this liberal Congress steps forward to "fix" something, it makes it worse than it was before.
Wait 'til after the election, when liberals and their fellow travelers are no longer in the majority -- then some things might actually get fixed.
