Despite New Jersey facing large budget deficits, Christie is calling for large tax cuts. So sure, he's a Republican dream candidate.

But he's not a Birther and doesn't go along with the Tea Party wack-o fringe of his party. Romney needs wingnut cred (like his getting in bed with Trump) and cannot afford reminding him of his moderate days as governor of a liberal state. Christie is too brash and independent for the staid Romney!
