If by "consistent" you mean, "the best QB we've ever seen", then I guess you are right.
He was one of a handful of players in college--like Barry Sanders, for example--that you literally couldn't take your eyes off of, because you KNEW that he was going to do something remarkable at any second.
The iconic play where he made two Miami dlinemen run into each other, leaving all four of them of the ground while he threw a TD pass, perfectly exemplifies what Ty was all about. "I'll take four stitches for a deep out anytime". -Ty Detmer

Congrats to Ty Detmer! He was a great quarterback and great guy. When he left, I think it marked the end of an era in Provo.
