Lots of good arguments in this article.
However, try replacing the words "Fatty Foods" with "Alcohol".
I am guessing that many would switch sides of the argument.
This in a state that spends a lot of time, energy and effort to control what we drink?
More attention should probably be focused on the subsidies given to corn production, which has little nutritional value as a vegetable and of course far less as high-fructose corn syrup. Soda pop shouldn't be cheaper than bottled water. And one minor correction: the NYT food columnist is Mark Bittman (not Matt, in case anyone was going to google him).
Good op-ed. Well stated.
