This is just the kind of guy everyone should want for their preacher....NOT!!
He did the crime, now do the time.
Not agreeing with what is transpiring is not license to fail to obey the law; work to change it. This guy was so worked up about being an "environmentalist" that he abandoned all forms of common sense. And defiance isn't the smartest way to act when you're on trial, in case you were wondering.
Let's hope the 10th Circuit has the fortitude to denty the appeal, but as we've seen with other situations, they're trying hard to become 9th Circuit wanna-bees so don't be surprised if his appeal is successful. Then he can go to divinity school and preach up a storm about flaunting the laws you don't want to obey.
He should be sentenced to work in the oil fields for 5 years at minimum wage, instead of jail time (crime school).
Come on with the political correctness bdouble speak.
He is not an "environmental activist" but rather a convicted felon.
No matter how his lawyers try to spin it, he knew that he was breaking the law and did it anyway with great financial harm to legitimate bidders.
Do the crime, do the time.
"I want to go to prison", says he. "Went to prison - check, achieved folk-hero status - check, now I want to go home." Allowing him an abbreviated sentence would just encourage bad behavior from others like him. I hope he can't check off going home until his already lenient sentence is complete.
"I am prepared to go to prison"...of course he is! In prison he gets room, board, food, and entertainment...all paid for by someone else. That's pretty much an "activist's" dream right there.
