Finders keepers, that's the law of salvaging. And since when is there an age limit on citizens possessing and owning a gun? Possession by foreign nationals is illegal but citizens do not have an age limit, its left up to the parents discretion and childs abilities and training. The child showed responsibility and restraint by not brandishing it or showing it off so he did nothing wrong and should be commended.
If they can learn to handle guns and shoot them as has been demonstrated by children many times when they deter and save their families from criminals then they should not be restricted from possession. In this case the child's alternatives didn't leave him much choice, he had to keep it with him until he could return to his home.
This country has gone insane with its fear and terminal socialist behaviors and their own shadows scare them. Be Americans, share your weapons and be proud of them and your freedoms.
@My2Cents: While I can agree that some kids know how to use guns, and use them properly - I grew up with them and was using guns at age 6 - I believe you are wrong about other aspects of your comment. You state the child should be commended for not showing off or brandishing the gun. However, the responsible thing would have been to go straight to the principal's office and tell them what he found. He did not need to keep itwith him until he returned home; it should have been turned in to the principal, who, in turn, should have turned it into police.
