Weddle is such a stud! Here's to him staying healthy and having another Pro Bowl year. Go Utes!

wait a minute. i have to take back my previous comment. Eric must be a one percenter, which is bad. let hum pay more taxes and maybe the feds will give Utah $250k less their overhead back to the U.

When is Max H going to donate?

to Utah? I don't think he will. Some donate and don't publicly announce, but I'm sure you know that because you are a big contributor. thanks for all that you do to build the u.

I clicked and contributed $5. That is far more than most of the illustrous utah "fans" that frequent these boards will ever contribute. I guess that makes me far more invested than any of them.

Duckhunter is running out of material.

Thank you Mr. Weddle for your donation towards Utah athletics!

Class act by a great (college and pro) ball player. Anyone else remember him playing a brief stint as QB in an OT win vs. Air Force?

Also - I see the U had to discount a small donation from a D. Hunter. Apparently the $5 charge wouldn't clear.

Have you heard the old adage about waiting to buy a boat until you can flush $100 bill down the toilet and not even flinch? Putting $ into a mediocre athletic program is even worse.

Way to go Eric - great player and an even better person.

I wish him all the best.

It was great to see how many people showed up for the spring game this year - that was by far the biggest turn out I have ever seen.

Can't wait for the season to begin!

Go Utes!

Max donated a Slurpee from the 7-11 he is working at!!

So what you're saying is that Tom Holmoe shouldn't wait by the mailbox for your check to arrive?

With all the big bucks you make from your University of Utah construction contracts you can and should make a serious and sizable donation. Come on, poney up!!

Proud Ute

Agreed, Weddle is a class act.
Thanks also to all the classy alumni who give back.

This is an incredibly generous gift from a player that has given so much more than money already. I'm so grateful to have him as part of the U of Utah community!

Eric Weddle was class on the field at Utah and continues to show class. Utes need more like him to compete in the PAC 12 arms race. When Phil Knight kicked of the Oregon Ducks Athletic Legacy Funding he dropped over 100 million on the ducks in his first of many contributions.

While it is awesome that Weddle contributes back to his school, the guy has a $40M/5 yr contract. $250K is nothing to him. Proportionally, I give more of my income back to my school than he does. Utah is not my school (neither are the 3 or 4 other schools I have donated to), but it seems that I have contributed more to the University of Utah than many loud mouthed fans have. Put your money where your mouth is.

Well it should irritate you to know that I have a contract on the new football facility, as well as the tennis courts and the other things being done with the football facility. Still my $5 contribution out does utahute16, co ute, sir robin, hedgehog, naval vet, qwest boy, and most of the others on here. My guess is none of them has donated at all whereas I made a donation, albeit small, and will be front and center on the construction of the new facilities. Every time a utah "fan" looks at them they will know that Duckhunter was involved in their construction.

Just for fun I looked up the standings in most pac12 sports top see how well the utes "competed" in their 1st pac12 season. This should be enlightening to most.

Football - 4-5 8th place
Baseball - currently 5-13 12th place
Mens Basketball - 3-15 11th place
Womens basketball - 8-10 8th place
Softball - 0-15 9th place (this is last because only 9 schools field teams)
Volleyball - 6-16 9th place
Womens Gymnastics - 2nd plce (high water mark here)
Womens X country - 8th place
Mens Golf - 10th place was their highest finish in any tourney
Womens Soccer - 6-5 6th place
Mens Tennis - 1-6 7th place (of 8)
Womens Tennis - 3-7 8th place (of 11)

I think we can see utah is not competitive at all in almost every sport. The best was womens gymnastics which finisehd 2nd and the one that had ute "fans" positively giddy was the 4-5 8th place record of the football team.
