Weddle is such a stud! Here's to him staying healthy and having another Pro
Bowl year. Go Utes!
Thank you Eric Weddle! Still the Utes' MVP all these years later!
wait a minute. i have to take back my previous comment. Eric must be a one
percenter, which is bad. let hum pay more taxes and maybe the feds will give
Utah $250k less their overhead back to the U.
When is Max H going to donate?
based:to Utah? I don't think he will. Some donate and don't
publicly announce, but I'm sure you know that because you are a big
contributor. thanks for all that you do to build the u.
I clicked and contributed $5. That is far more than most of the illustrous utah
"fans" that frequent these boards will ever contribute. I guess that
makes me far more invested than any of them.
Duckhunter is running out of material.Thank you Mr. Weddle for your
donation towards Utah athletics!
Class act by a great (college and pro) ball player. Anyone else remember him
playing a brief stint as QB in an OT win vs. Air Force? Also - I see
the U had to discount a small donation from a D. Hunter. Apparently the $5
charge wouldn't clear.
Have you heard the old adage about waiting to buy a boat until you can flush
$100 bill down the toilet and not even flinch? Putting $ into a mediocre
athletic program is even worse.
Way to go Eric - great player and an even better person.I wish him
all the best.It was great to see how many people showed up for the
spring game this year - that was by far the biggest turn out I have ever seen.
Can't wait for the season to begin!Go Utes!
Earnest,Max donated a Slurpee from the 7-11 he is working at!!
@Broom Hockey ChampSo what you're saying is that Tom Holmoe
shouldn't wait by the mailbox for your check to arrive?
Duckhunter,With all the big bucks you make from your University of
Utah construction contracts you can and should make a serious and sizable
donation. Come on, poney up!!
Agreed, Weddle is a class act. Thanks also to all the classy alumni who
This is an incredibly generous gift from a player that has given so much more
than money already. I'm so grateful to have him as part of the U of Utah
Eric Weddle was class on the field at Utah and continues to show class. Utes
need more like him to compete in the PAC 12 arms race. When Phil Knight kicked
of the Oregon Ducks Athletic Legacy Funding he dropped over 100 million on the
ducks in his first of many contributions.
While it is awesome that Weddle contributes back to his school, the guy has a
$40M/5 yr contract. $250K is nothing to him. Proportionally, I give more of my
income back to my school than he does. Utah is not my school (neither are the 3
or 4 other schools I have donated to), but it seems that I have contributed more
to the University of Utah than many loud mouthed fans have. Put your money
where your mouth is.
@DutchmanWell it should irritate you to know that I have a contract
on the new football facility, as well as the tennis courts and the other things
being done with the football facility. Still my $5 contribution out does
utahute16, co ute, sir robin, hedgehog, naval vet, qwest boy, and most of the
others on here. My guess is none of them has donated at all whereas I made a
donation, albeit small, and will be front and center on the construction of the
new facilities. Every time a utah "fan" looks at them they will know
that Duckhunter was involved in their construction.
Just for fun I looked up the standings in most pac12 sports top see how well the
utes "competed" in their 1st pac12 season. This should be enlightening
to most.Football - 4-5 8th placeBaseball - currently 5-13 12th
placeMens Basketball - 3-15 11th placeWomens basketball - 8-10 8th
placeSoftball - 0-15 9th place (this is last because only 9 schools field
teams)Volleyball - 6-16 9th placeWomens Gymnastics - 2nd plce (high
water mark here)Womens X country - 8th placeMens Golf - 10th place
was their highest finish in any tourneyWomens Soccer - 6-5 6th placeMens Tennis - 1-6 7th place (of 8)Womens Tennis - 3-7 8th place (of
11)I think we can see utah is not competitive at all in almost every
sport. The best was womens gymnastics which finisehd 2nd and the one that had
ute "fans" positively giddy was the 4-5 8th place record of the football
@Duckhunter I don't believe you any more than when you ran and hid
after the 54-10 chastisement last year.. and you were in Tulsa ? Where
will you be on the 15th of September this year ?
And what place did BYU earn in their conference this year? Oh wait... They
don't belong to one... Talk smack when your football team wins 54-10...
Until then, you got nothin'. It's like trying to shoot someone
without a gun... On second thought, the smack is always good for a little
sympathy giggle, so keep it coming if you must!Eric Weddle is my
favorite Ute of all time!
@reasonableuteLet's see.Football - 10-3 ranked in
top 25Mens Basketball - 12-4 3rd NCAA tourneyWomens Basketball - 12
- 4 2nd NCAA tourneyBaseball - currently 6-3 2ndSoftball - currently
9-4 3rdWomens Volleyball - 9-4 3rdMens Volleyball - 17-5 2nd ranked
3rd nationallyMens Golf - 3rdWomens Golf - 6thMens Tennis -
4-3 4thWomens Tennis - 3-5 7thWomens Soccer - currently 5-2-1 4thX Country - 1stLet's see, BYU is basicly in the top half of
its conference in almost every sport. Utah is in the bottom half, and generally
the bottom 1/4, of its conference in every sport but 1.
Ducky your high school league doesn't count... PS Nice of you
to drop in as usual
DuckhunterShame on you-to compare you make yourself look like one of
those fans like bluto, y grad/y dad, cougarfanintexas and so on. Take baseball
and softball look at the top 25 in both then you will see what the Utes are
having to deal with. Same as Tennis, Volleyball, Track & Field, going to
the PAC-12 is a much bigger jump than playing in the WCC. Don't even talk
about football. And thanks for taking this article about Utah and
letting us all know what is going on up here. You cougars have nothing to look
forward too and have absolutley nothing to talk about. BYU athletics is having
a good year but the competition in the WCC is a lot different than the PAC-12.
You are still part of nothing, BYU
UU alums should donate to the schools athletics programs. State taxpayers
should not be subsidizing the UU athletic program, which they have currently
been doing at a rate of $5 million a year. Instead, the Utes should be paying
the state back for it's investment. The state should institute a
"Pac-12 tax" and put a good portion of that money in the state general
education fund to pay for teachers.
Eric is a class act - an example of what Utah sends to the next level.Ducky's "contracts" are the same as his football
"theories" - figments of his imagination. It is GREAT to be a
Ute!!! The evidence is all the blue kittens posting on our stories!!
It is hilarious to see the kittens talk about 10-3 for 2011 when their two
biggest opponents in November were "bye"! LOL.54-10 is more
indicative of that team!Great to be a Ute!!
Top 10 signs your program is going "down hill":Honorable
mentions:-54-10-Independence10- The best keepsake
you have is a closet full of t-shirts with unfulfilled catch phrases9-
Robert Anae is the only coach you have that anyone nationally cares about -
woops, he was let go by Bronco8- Your sole 2008 4 star recruit now plays
for Utah (ouch!)7- Your highest profile recruit in a decade is now
redshirting for Charlie Weiss!6- Your HUGE scheduling news: home and home
with .... East Carolina??5- 10-3 record with a strength of schedule
hovering at 1004- Dwindling players in the NFL - no Pro Bowler since .....
when?? (3 Utes this year!)3- November schedule, or lack thereof (as many
“byes” as games)2- BADLY losing in state recruiting to
bitterest of rivals 1- ESPN thinks your coach's name is Roscoe!!Great to be a Ute!!
@duckhunterWe're impressed with your knowledge of Utah
athletics in this first inaugural year into the PAC 12. We can see that you are
hanging by every accomplishment that the Utes have made. Relax and know that,
with each year of recruiting, our programs will continue to improve and compete
in this very competitive new BCS conference for us. (Remember, this is no MWC
where by just showing up, you're guaranteed a win half the time.) The PAC
12 has more overall NCAA championships than any other conference in America. In the meantime, support your team and their quest for relevance. They
are the ones who could really use your support. It's not going to be an
easy road for them, or for "fans" like you."LOL" to
@goredWell we'll believe it when we see it. As for now
utah's overall athletic program is extremely bad although that is not a new
development. If they could "just show up and win half the time" in the
mwc then how come they didn't?
