I am amazed at all the people who follow the games behind stat, instead of the lost column.

Wed night and Thur day, everyone was spouting about how the Jazz were #8 and "in the playoffs", when they had exactly the same 30 losses as Phoenix (they had played, and won, one more game than PHX), who currently holds the tie-breaker.

Thursday night PHX won, and now has exactly the same record as the Jazz, who are now #9, and out of the playoffs.

If there's a game to be played, you can always make up a win, but never a loss. The team you're chasing has to lose, you have no control over it.

As we have noted for quite a while, the Tue. Phoenix game is a must win, unless PHX loses to both Denver and the Spurs. The Jazz would have to win Orlando and Portland games too.
