I fail to see how a digital copy system can truly cost $9.99. The charges that Amazon was/is selling at a loss are fatuous at best and probably just plain wrong and/or self-serving.
I do see where electronic books could be so much cheaper than paper and ink, including transportation cost, that hard copy publishers will be thinned or become extinct. Since I am a resource conservationist, I don't see that as a bad thing.
