Wow, the headline should have been Max Hall's quote that Riley should have been the starter in the first place. Max is right. Too bad that the coaches and fans bought into the media hype surrounding a certain highly-recruited freshman.

They are both chiseled out of pure awesome. Both should never loose another game.

They never will lose another game. Yes folks, they are both that good.

Even though Max Hall hates Utah and everyone who graduated from there, I still love him. What's not to love? Awesome and classy.

Even though Max Hall stated on national television that he "hates Utah, and Utah's fans", I still love him. Truly, he really is sculpted out of pure righteousness.

Max who? Hall, did you say?

Oh, yes, I remember him. The guy whose Uncle Danny got him a season in Arizona as - what was it? Water boy?

We'll just have to wait to see if he can make better throws this fall. Hoping for the best.

"Max is almost like a coach. They should pay him for being out here," Nelson joked.
is this against some NCAA policy?

Water boy? That's farther than you'll get.

Oh goody. Max is back to spread his high class hate to the rest of the team. I hope the rest of the team has the class and wisdom to ignore his garbage. But then, I remember a talk by one of last years players at my ward saying how much better people are at BYU than at other places. (never mind that he had never lived outside of Utah beyond his mission) I can only assume the players are repeating the drivel that is coming down from above. These guys need to be talked to about how the things they say can and always will be held against the rest of the church and need to learn to think before they talk.

I think it's really cool that Wendy's gave Max some extra time off to go and visit his Alma Matter.

Alaska Coug,
Little paranoid there? You know nobody is tougher on the Y than their own fans.
Just ask Bronco and Jake Heaps.

Best decision Nelson ever made was to leave usu for BYU. He'll actually have a winning record playing football and graduate from a top notch school. Glad BYU has him now. He's a proven leader.

""He should have been the starter in the first place, in my opinion," Hall told the Deseret News on BYU's Alumni Day, the final day of spring drills. "He overcame the adversity that came with not being the starter. He stuck in there and kept working hard and good things happened for him. He deserves it. He's a great kid, a hard worker, and he's a competitor. If anything, he'll compete and give it everything he has. That's what I like about him."

Wow, Max tell us what you really think! Bronco, are you listening to Max? read his comments in the article, I think you have your next QB coach standing on the sidelines. Take those duties away from Doman and let him focus entirely on the offense.

On the contrary, judging by the way BYU just quit, laid down and rolled over for Utah in last year's game and the way that Utah kept their foot on the gas and never let up right to the final gun indicates that BYU doesn't hate Utah even an iota as much as Utah hates the Cougars. Judging by the effort and energy utah put into the game, you would have thought that game was Utah's BCS Bowl game. In contrast BYU looked like they were playing in their spring game.

Max was 2-1 vs the Utes and since he left we're 0-2. I would say our players need a little more "Maxy" when they play the utes, not less.

Looks as if Max is smart enough to say things Bronco would like. Whatever happened to quarterbacks having to throw. Only at BYU under Bronco do we select a starting quarterback based on his off the field performance. Riley can't throw, he panics easily, he cause discention on the team. I wish he had stayed at USU.

Sounds like Riley is serious about improving his game, I like that he seeks the advice of Max Hall. BYU is in good hands with a leader like Riley at the QB position. He will see to it that they (he and the recievers,TE,RBs,etc) get together and work hard during the spring and summer when coaches cant be around.

Provo, UT

Wayne, please define your word, "discention." It's not in the American Heritage Dictionary, its not in Merriam Websters, it's not even at Dictionary.com. Googling it got me nothing.

On the other hand, when it comes to dissension, you certainly are able to hold your own. As Voltaire might have said, "I'll defend to the death your right to say it," but that still doesn't make it accurate. As I recall, while Jake was in charge, there was dissension on the team, players - whether rightly or wrongly - were given half-hearted effort, they quit against Utah. Then Riley came in to mop up against USU and suddenly the entire was pulling together. Nobody denies that Jake has a stronger arm, but Jake did not provide half the leadership that Riley did, and non of Riley's intangibles.

Whether Riley survives this season uninjured - well, we'll just have to see. But he is the logical choice to start the season. Not only was Jake completely ineffective, but he quit. I just cannot understand why you are so devoted to him.

I would love an article once a week quoting Max. Not so much because he had anything to say but because of the way Ute fans still revere him. All we needed was a reprise of "magic happens" and I think they would have blown fuses up on the hill.

Wayne? Just win, baby, win. Something Riley does.
