WONDERFUL changes!
Change is a good thing because it gives others a chance to serve. Never saying that those that where changed did not do a good job.
They most likely for the vast most part did a fine job. After awhile a Calling can weigh on you or the Lord has said that it is time for a natural change.
My Home teaching partner is a former Stake President, when he was released he was soon called as Ward Mission Leader and we had Baptisms for a while almost weekly. Then he was called a Stake Patriarch "convert he is he is" and does that job as well as Home Teach which in Hawaii can be a challenge. That basic link here is often weak, broken, or even non existent. Some of its Culture, some not so much.
All in all the point of this is to say that change is good and there is much work to be done regardless of the calling. I am sure those released will be put to good use.
What is good use? The size or importance of the calling only means something to vicarious livers, all callings have meaning and great value.
Wasn't Craig A. Cardon and one other person called to the First Quorum of Seventy, as well? I know that's what President Uchtdorf said (though it sounded like "Greg A. Cardon"). Did President Uchtdorf misspeak, or did the DN misreport?
Burton is a gifted man - he deserves plenty of credit for the City Creek Mall. BTW, as a fellow alumnus of the U of U economics dept, let me say that his background there hasn't hurt.
