Comments about ‘Readers' forum: Proper gratitude’

This letter is absolutely correct. Over the last 50 years, our society has degenerated into one that is unthankful, selfish, and mean. However, this is hardly surprising given the prevelence of left wing influence in government.

The left wing welfare state mentality destroys all notions of gratitude. When people feel that, simply because they exist, they are entitled to have the government provide them with everthing they want, they lose the ability to express thanks.

We must return to the historic practices that lead to a grateful society, such as hard work, self reliance, and sacrifice. The only way to do so is by eliminating those welfare state mentalitoes from our government.
