Just because one candidate has raised more money doesn't mean a thing. Santorum's thinking is flawed. The voters will vote according to what they want to hear. Santorum's popularity among evangelicals and ultra-right conservatives is due to these groups' dislike, hatred, or ignorance concerning Mormons. Santorum is banking on this ignorance and it's working. He and Newt are dividing the GOP for selfish reasons, NOT for the good of the party. Romney is more conservative then they give him credit. The only difference is that Romney leads by listening to two sides and will compromise when it benefits the majority. Santorum is preaching, Newt is pontificating his record. Newt possesses a flawed moral base and character (2 affairs anyone?) while Santorum preaches his religious ethics to sound like governing policy. This is a guy who lost by 18 percent in his home state of Pennsylvania. Big question, Why? What did his constituents see that the rest of the conservatives and evangelicals refuse to see? Perhaps it is their blind ambition to not support a Mormon? I think so. It is nothing more than religious bigotry. As noted, Romney has not brought up religion, nor has any of his surrogates/supporters.
