Your ridiculous Harmon, they do not deserve a spot this year. Quit the drum beating and biases!

To be honest Dick; NO! BYU took a league demotion from the MWC to the WCC...even a team as poor as Utah was this year which moved up a league (to the Pac-12) should be more seriously considered for the tourney. Certainly Utah State should be more seriously considered.

Wow, just a couple comments from people who know nothing about basketball. Sure, BYU isn't as good as they were last year (I don't think anybody expected them to be as good as last years), but to say that USU and Utah are more deserving is soooooo ignorant!

68 teams go to the tournament. I will accept your claims about BYU not deserving a spot if you can present 68 teams that are indisputably better than BYU. Enough said.

The trolls are out early this morning.

vince - This article does not reflect a Harmon bias. Over 90% of the experts agree that BYU has earned a spot in the NCAA.

slc sports - Did Utah really move up from the MWC to PAC12? The PAC12 is a lower rated conference than the MWC. Check your facts. U and Coach Morrill's mother may be the only two people in America who think Utah State should be considered. And to consider Utah? Not even your other trolls would support this argument.

We'll find out for sure in about 6 hours, but like the experts, I also think BYU is in. If they get in, they will be a double digit seed. Personally, I hope they get one of the play-in games. I think a Tuesday game against an equally rated team could give them some confidence and momentum going into Thursday.

I could care less about the so called experts. They are not the official selection committee.
Stop dreaming fellow BYU fans.

There are certainly a few people out to get a rise today huh?

Come on guys, I'm as Ute as Ute can be and I certainly wouldn't call Harmon a homer on this one or pretend that Utah or Utah State are even close to as deserving of an NCAA bid as BYU - that's just ridiculous.

Good luck in the tourney Cougars, I'll be shocked if you're not invited in.

nobody who matters wants U

Gotta laugh at these BYU haters who pretend to be "fellow BYU fans", but then spout their BYU-hating drivel on every post.

The "experts" may not be the selection committee, but they're certainly much more respected and accurate in their predictions than these BYU-hating trolls who simply can't stand the fact that BYU is a well-respected basketball program, regardless of which conference the Cougars are in, and Utah is a dumpster fire despite the Ute's supposed "conference of chumpions" membership.

BYU 13th in points/game, 21st in rebounds, 6th in assists, 43rd FG%
Utah 339th in points/game, 337th in rebounds, 325th in assists, 304th FG%

RPI/Pomeroy/Sagarin Rankings
BYU(25-8) #46, #50, #39 - 3rd in conference
Utah (6-25) #274, #306, #297 - 11th in conference

BYU has the best basketball program in the state.
Utah has the worst basketball program in the state.

That's just the way it is.

Reasonable people know that BYU is in. What i am interested in is seeing the matchup BYU gets. Its all about the matchups. With a good one, and solid perimeter shooting, BYU can be on the winning end of the annual 12 vs 5 upset.

Did one of my fellow Utah fans really just say the U is more deserving of a spot in the tourney? If that comment was real, wow.
And to coug fan "90% of all experts agree that BYU deserves a spot." That's a made up statistic if I've ever hear one. BYU is right where they belong, on the bubble. Good luck to BYU though, I always like to see at least one team represent our state at the dance.

Many would agree with 'no they don't' and the selection committee among them... Win and you are in.... Lose and you are out.... The Cougs are right where they put themselves to be.... A potential one loss away from not officially being in the dance.

Memo to all the BYU haters.

This just in.

Cougars will ay Iona on Tuesday. Oh, and it's not an NIT game either.

Some of the comments on here are just ridiculous, the combined sports knowledge of the commenters below is pathetic. Sure Dick is loyal to BYU but just about every national pundit had BYU in the dance before todays announcement and it proved correct because BYU got in! @#1 SLC SPORTS FAN needs to put down the crack pipe or whatever he is drinking!

Sorry to break the news to you and your fellow BYU haters, but BYU is already "officially in" the NCAA tournament.

BYU invited to the big dance! AGAIN?

I am not a BYU hater... Simply a realist that has not yet recovered from that game where the threes kept getting shot long after they couldn't make 15 in a row. I foresee this 'officially in the dance' being a one and done. Iona will go on to hopefully make some noise against Marquette... Because, well, without Jimmer or their three point consistency BYU doesn't have a prayer against Marquette. That is unless their lucky charm attends the game!
