Comments about ‘Negro spirituals still resonate’

A friend of mine, a black convert ot the LDS church, still likes to go for some real singing.

Bad title?

I think Negro Spirituals have some of the deepest, most passionate messages of any hymns. I wish more hymnals included them. The ideal that we are escaping the "slavery" of "the world" and seeking the freedom of God's Kingdom is something any Christian can relate to. I even have a jewish friend who relates it to Irsael's release of bondage in Egypt.
