You couldn't ask for a more exciting and thrilling game! Thanks sevier valley boys for a great game. South Sevier VS Richfield. I would bet almost every ear in the valley was on the game and a lot of those who have moved away but, never really left.

The articles were good from the 2A games, but it's amazing the lack of coverage 2A & 3A get when the tourney is held anywhere south of Orem. No pictures and small articles. DNEWS you really blew it with the Richfield vs South Sevier game. One of the most exciting games in any classification this year; the atmosphere, the crowds, the game. These two teams played several years ago on the girls side and the game went 2 OT's. Same kind of coverage cuz' it was held in Cedar. I think you borrowed a few pic's from the Daily Spectrum. The kids work hard and deserve a little more than a mention.

South Summit was robbed in the semi-final game vs. Richfield. I was cheering for Richfield and I was still upset with the blatant and obvious home cooking going on for Richfield. I don't think they should be allowed to have home-court advantage during the tournament.

Was it just me, or did anyone else think that was the worst overall officiating you have ever seen in a tournament? In the Wasatch Academy/Emery game for instance, the officials seemed like they were doing make up calls the entire game. They really disrupted the flow of the game and neither side could figure out how to play, what was going to be called and what wasn't. Surely there are better officials available than the ones they had.

I didn't watch any of the tournament games but overall the 2-3 years I have seen a decline in quality officiating. When there is no quality control, quality goes down hill this is true with any product. Along with the written tests I think officials should have their games reviewed by either the head of their association or a board of officials on a state level. Their in game grade out should be at least 65% for regular season and 70% for post season games. The following should be considered in the evaluations:

1.Correct calls made
2. Missed calls/Wrong Calls
3. Professionalism/Sportsmanship

Consequences for the following year maybe they get bumped down to JV/Freshman games until they bring up their evaluation scores on a consistent basis.

They need to go with 3 officials during the tournaments. It's crazy that they only have two guys out there during the tournaments. The Sevier Valley Center was PACKED on both Friday and Saturday. They make enough $$$ to pay one more official per game for tournament weekend.

Great game, worth the trip for sure. Both teams played their hearts out, South Sevier just has better shooters. This is the kind of game that will be talked about for years to come. Great crowd and great atmosphere. This game represents all that is good about High School Basketball and showed how invested small towns are in their teams. The support was amazing. The citizens of Monroe and Richfield can be proud.

What happened to Austin Clark? Not a single mention of his name in this article. Did he play, but not at his usual level or did he not play at all?

It was sure an exciting game! Richfield needs to work on their offense more. They all played a good game. Richfield's shots just couldn't go in. They tried their best. No one should feel bad about the game.

Austin played a good game. He got the Richfield bigs in foul trouble and hit a couple of big 3's. He had some nice assists and several rebounds and did a great job defending in the post. Race took the majority of shots, as usual.

And South Summit got robbed... As usual.

@ Anonymous 2A Fan,
South Summit matched up well against Richfield, but they would have been annihilated by South Sevier. Its simple, you can't expect to win a semifinal game when you only score 29 points in a boys basketball game. You should feel pretty fortunate about South Summits performance considering they had a losing record of 10-11 coming into the tournament. No one was robbed, the best teams played for the ship and the best team won.

@ PG #1 Fan,
Race takes the majority of shots because he is the best player. There was games throughout the season that some of the starters had as many or more points than Race, but he is there go to guy because he has earned it. You don't see anyone from SS complaining do you? The won a championship.

Why weren't there any Richfield pictures? It was all South Sevier-Manti.

Hey SS I was pointing out the obvious. Me Myself and I wanted to know why Austin wasn't mentioned in the article, it's because he didn't score many points. If you were at the game you would have seen that Race took over half the shots. My point was that there wasn't a whole lot of opportunities for Austin to score. Race is a great shooter, one of the best in Utah. Austins' contributions aren't always on the stat sheet.
