'SALT LAKE CITY â Mitt Romney parted ways with his Arizona campaign co-chairman after allegations of misconduct made by a man with whom the campaign official previously had a relationship.' - article
You know this means the man is allegedly gay, right?
If he was openly gay in Arizona, could he have been fired?
Well, I'm not sure. There are still laws on the books that can fire you for being gay in (get this!) 29 states. So, I would be afraid to come out because majority of states can simply fire you ONLY for being gay.
Regardless, you should never use your job authority to intimidate or bully anyone. Regardless of legal status.
And last, would this man have been allowed on Romney's staff if we was open about being gay?
For that, let's look at Romney's record:
*'Mitt Romney pledges opposition to gay marriage' - CBS News - 08/04/11
Then:
'It's also notable because Romney was not always such a strong opponent of gay rights. In 1994, he sent a letter to a gay Republican group saying he would be a stronger advocate for gay rights...' - Same Article
Yeah.
I'm not sure either.
There are gay cops here in Utah and in Arizona. Big deal. The cops I know in Utah don't really care about that, as long as the person does a good job and is a dependable coworker.
Whether the allegation of threats is true or not remains to be seen. I think what most people will find objectionable is the Sheriff placing personal ads on gay dating sites, complete with explicit pictures. In and of itself, that wouldn't be a problem, but someone who is an elected public official, and who holds a position of public trust, is going to be held to a higher standard, as they should be.
Arizona voters tend to be pretty socially conservative. I think the Sheriff is not going to go any further in politics.

We have example of this. Anthony Weiner sent a naughty picture to someone other than his wife.
He resigned.
However, David Vitter was caught in a Prostitutioin scandal with the 'DC Madam'...

Gingrich, admited he had an affair...

And is running for President!
He won South Carolina for the Republican candidacy.
Didn't the article state that this fellow opened up about being gay?
And, some gay people don't even care about being "married". Some of the ones I know have a hard time sustaining a relationship for a very long time anyway. This is not to be critical of them, because it comes from their own lips.
Also, people ought to be able to function freely at their jobs as long as they work well and are not a distraction in the workplace, whether they are straight or gay.

How can this be coming from 'their own lips'...
when you said it?
You can't even NAME your 'gay friends'.
Also, if you do have gay friends, you need some better examples:
** 'Kept From a Dying Partners Bedside' - By TARA PARKER-POPE - NY Times - 05/18/09
And yet, even with Living Will, Medical Directive, Power of attorney and emergency contact information...
Janice Langbehn was kept from the bedside of her dying partner, Lisa Pond.
They were together for 18 years.
Should I judge all Heterosexuals by Bristol Palin?
Jersey Shore?
What a foolish comparison.
