Glad to see BYU's shooting touch starting to return. BYU is capable of beating anybody when they're hitting their 3s.
Cougs looked good against the Waves! Hopefully they will bring the same intensity, focus and shooting touch the rest of the season.
Don't overlook San Francisco, they can be dangerous.
A win in Spokane against the Zags should solidify an NCAA bid and a second place finish (with the tie breaker) in the WCC.
@phantomblade
Agreed that it was great to see the 3s dropping. But disagree that BYU can play with anybody. Not this year. The backcourt is too young and shaky. But I think they're good and will get better. Defense is the key. Remember, they beat Gonzaga with defense, not 3s. The good news is that this is a good defensive team and defense requires conditioning and effort. They look like they're in shape and and Coach Rose has them working hard.
If they make the dance, even if one and done, that will be a very good year for this team with their youth and the key injuries they've had.
@Blue Husky
Correct defense will win out the rest of the season. The coug's need to stay aggressive, push tempo and not panic by relying on the unreliable three pointer.
Staying calm, Zen centered in the moment that is the recipe.
Great work, Cougars! Keep it up! And it's great to have the real Abouo back.
Great game on both ends. Carlino's still in a bad shooting slump from outside, but I love his aggression in taking it to the basket, and he's got great court vision. Seems like he's cutting back a little on his TO's, which is a good sign.
Excited for the rest of the season, and for the future of Cougar basketball...lot of great, young players in the pipeline.
Go Cougars!
I just love the fact that I can read a whole article about BYU and then go to the comments and there are only BYU fans commenting. It is almost as if that other team has completely fallen off the planet.
I was at the game at it was fun to see the Cougars crush Pepperdine. It wasn't the most exciting game but I'll take one like this every now and then.
We definitely need a win at Gonzaga to get off the bubble.
Still not bad for a rebuilding year. Lots of freshmen getting playing time is only going to help. The future is bright!
Go Cougars!
go cougs! Free yogurt for everyone!
Cougs right now... just need to stay on the bubble and get to the dance first... and then see where BYU is at that point. Without Collingsworth and Rogers BYU has not really been a knockout punch team this year simply based on thier WCC schedule. The slump really changed the momentum despite some of the wins...that should have been more overpowering than they were. Win the rest of thier games through the conferenc tournament and and then we shall see.
