Comments about ‘Legislators wrangle over Jordan River trail tunnel project’

The Jordan River Parkway Trail is one of the true gems in the Salt Lake Valley, but the gaps in the south part of the valley are hindering it's use as a non-vehicular inter-city connection. Whether from these funds or some other funds, it is time we found a way to bridge the gap and finish the trail.

I don't know which is least expensive overall, an overpass or tunnel, but I seem to remember in some other locations presenting security problems so maybe some kind of surveliance system would be necessary. The overpass at Jordan Landing doesn't seem too attractive but seems to be well used in getting people across the road.

This tunnel would be a huge plus for the area. Although the SL Valley is relatively small, there is not an effective trail system. The Jordan River trail is the backbone of what could become a very vibrant system.

The Wasatch Front is doing great on transportation infrastructure--Trax, Frontrunner, new west-side freeway. This trail needs to be viewed as an essential part of that infrastructure.
