I know that I am to critical about this teams play but I want them to excell so bad it hurts to lose. We primarily lost this game because of a lack of effort in the 1st half, and I can't understand why. Two things I will critique is why does bid Al get so many minutes when his game isn't top notch? He took twice the shots of any other player and 30 plus minutes for the points and rebounds he had surely didn't deserve the minutes, also with 11 seconds to play and we have the ball down 5 points what is he doing in the game? We needed nothing but 3 point shooters (Bell) for example in the game. One other item is why is Burks not playing any minutes the last few games? I don't get it!
Your right, on certain nights Jefferson when struggling continues to get heavy minutes. Which in turn takes away from Millsap. I believe Millsap should be taking the bulk of the shots down the stretch, he has more explosiveness and can create off the dribble. I think its better to have Millsap play along Kanter, while Jefferson plays along Favors. Hopefully, we just get an upgrade in the point guard position, somebody that can shoot, penetrate the lane and pass. Right now, Harris can not shoot and cant create for others. Watson is good but unable to score. We need to get Mo Williams, Billups just went down, trade Harris and Miles for Mo Williams.... I think the Clippers will do it, they get a shooter to replace Billups in Miles and a back up point guard in Harris.. What do you guys think?
The GREAT coaches in the league usually go with the hot hand. We watched Indiana for 2 1.2 Quarters own the Jazz in the Paint. At one point it was 40-22 PAINT Point Pacers en route to a 71-50 Lead. Gordon and Paul sparked the 3rd Quarter Comeback. They were the only ones, playing Defense. Even Hibbert and Tyler were having problems scoring when the 2nd unit came into the game..Earl Watson handled the Pacer Points including Collison who was destroying Devon despite Devon having ok luck offensively. At one point over 2 games our "STARTING POINT HAD BEEN OUTSCORED 45-17. Watson started getting steals, tough D, ran the offense, got into us having free flowing offense and could penetrate. Things Mr. Harris again failed to do. Kanter and Favors were spectacular together. It was the best Defensive Tandem in long memory the Jazz had in a game when the opponent was struggling to score..CJ made shots, it was there
(cont), then we go up down 21 to 91-90 Lead. Tyrone called Time...Earl was tired. However, with TV time out, time you get back to action about 2 minutes elapsed. SO what does Corbin do? A FATAL ERROR....He puts starters back in that got us in the mess the First Place. Now the offense stops moving, Josh cannot guard a cat. Granger destroyed him with that combo, AJ did his usual hesitate then pull up for a shot while we stood and watched. Collison blows by Harris (again) to give Indiana a 5 point lead 100-95. Then Ty puts Earl in with seconds left but that time too late. I expected bad losses. This is the most painful because the Coach did A SLOAN and cost us the game with Veteran Bias. This game was ours and there cannot be "1" good reason Favors and Kanter came out of that game....The Jazz as a result drop out of top 8 in the West
Different opponent, same story.
At least give Burks a chance when our other guards can't score or run the floor.
It looked to me like the Jazz were trying a new tactic ...get them tired by letting them score so many points....
Good Comments Todd, good analysis. I totally agree with your posts. Yes the bench was playing awesome defense and got the game back for us then Tyrone pulled a Sloan. Good coaches go with the flow of the players that are playing good. Not with a set rotation of ineffective vetran bias's. This is the very thing I am concerned about with Tys coaching. I wonder who is running this team is it Devin Harris (not on the floor), or big Al. Come on Corbin take charge and coach to win. Go with the players who are giving that winning effort.
@ Todd
Last year you can't stand Sloan, now you dish on Corbin constantly.... When will it end?
Go tattoo NBA. You make tattoo U look right at home.
I would love to see Harris traded by the trade deadline. I would love to see Kanter and Favors get more PT, their defense makes a difference. Offensively they aren't nearly as good as Jefferson and Milsap but I love how the team plays D when Kanter and Favors are in the game. Howard was playing well before he got injured but since his return he has struggled, Hayward should have been in the game going down the stretch, his D and his ability to get is teammates involved & create were needed.
