"Fanaika reported as many as nine offers and is rated as a three-star prospect by both rivals and scout.com." -- Brandon Gurney
Only Scout has Fanaika as a 3-star. Rivals - the more accurate publication - had him with 4 all along. Do your homework Brandon.
Makes sense that he would be having second thoughts about Utah. Not that Utah isn't a good place but they have already got commits from 8 offensive linemen and 6 defensive linemen. 9 or 10 are Freshmen. Of a pretty good group, Utah only has 10 or 11 who are not linemen.
Here's hoping his final decision is BYU.
And here is hoping this thread does not turn into a bitter and childish web argument between Cougar and Utah fans.
We would love to see Mr. Fanaika at the U.
Mesoute,
Amen, brother. Those BYU fans need to chill.
Good Luck Brandon wherever you go.
With that said the amount of lineman recruited by Utah this year doesn't effect you as you will be going on a mission for 2 years.
Nice try on the spin though TJ
Also if you want to play in the NFL.... Utah is #1 at putting their recruiting class in the league. Per collegefootballmatrix.wordpress.com
Whereve this young man goes, I wish him well!
Love to have him in Provo. Success to you, sir!
Fanaika IS a four star recruit, regardless of what Scout or Gurney says. He will be great wherever he goes. I have a feeling that, no matter who he chooses tomorrow, where he actually plays will still be in the air until after his mission.
I wonder if Gurney didn't count Utah State's offer as valid, because I count 10 offers. Who does his research??
Good luck Brandon. Hope you end up at the U!
Brandon! Take your talents against the best competition you can. Best of luck to you in your career.
I hope to see you on the hill in Red!
What it will boil down to is whether Brandon Fanaika wants to play in the NFL or spend 4 years drinking pickle juice.
Re: Otis Spurlock
BYU fans need to chill? Wow. Of all the fan bases to advise that, the Utes would be the least of them all, especially one like yourself.
Otis Spurlock
2:44 pm "Mesoute,Amen, brother. Those BYU fans need to chill."
Yes, because it is always BYU fans with the childish web arguments...
2:45 through 3:29.... Otis Spurlock tries a hundred different pithy comments to put up to rattle BYU fans... the following is what he came up with...
3:30 "What it will boil down to is whether Brandon Fanaika wants to play in the NFL or spend 4 years drinking pickle juice."
Otis, hats off to you man, you lasted almost 45 minutes before the inner child graced the comment board.
Starfarer,
Inner child or not, that was a pretty clever post about pickle juice or playing in the NFL.
Most of Spurlock's posts are good natured and not malicious or angry.
Both Ute and Byu fans could take a page from him.
@naval lint
"Rivals - the publication that is aligned with utah and gives their recruits the higher ratings - has him as a 4 star, unless he signs with BYU in which case he will be a 0 star."
"Otis Spurlock
Ogden, UT
Mesoute,
Amen, brother. Those BYU fans need to chill."
Judging by the title of the article I don't understand why there are any Ute fans here to comment.
Please go pester your rival. I'm sure one of the Denver papers could use your posts.
He will be a Cougar, His family is BYU and Utah State supporters, Brandon is too good of a kid to wind up on the Hill. He will be sporting Mighty Cougar Blue in a couple of years!!! My prediction is that their is zero chance that he ends up as a ute. Cougar or a Cardinal.
@Duckhunter
You gotta be kidding me! Rivals rates the recruits before they commit to any program. They don't change the ratings when a kid commits to Utah.
I'm glad you think my school has that much pull, especially with a service aligned to Yahoo Sports but as I started this post ... you gotta be kidding me!
Blue Wombat-
"Brandon is too good of a kid to wind up on the Hill"
Wow. I happen to know a hundred "Good kids" at the U who are 100% classier than you and your snide comments. Think before you post.
Go to the U, where, among other great venues, he would be playing the game of a life-time in the Coliseum in Los Angeles. Or, would he rather be playing in Pocatello, ID?
@co ute
You obviously don't know how those recruiting sites are set up. Look a little deeper.
re: raisedaute
You might want to recheck your source. It does not say that utah is #1 at putting their recruiting class in the league. It says that utah is #1 at having players drafted relative to their recruiting class ranking, which is all subjective anyway. Big difference there.
