I'm punching my ticket on the Des News. After hoping they would survive.....I'm done with this one trick pony show. When a Newspaper picks and chooses and edits and sensors they no longer can be a voice of Freedom. A newspaper in this land has always been the voice of diversity and the watch dog of power mongers. I'm sure this comment like many of my others will be knocked off the podium of free speech. They are no longer a legitiment voice of the people but present a fairy tale version of what they know their biased readership want to hear. A sad day.
I am seriously beginning to consider that Herbert and many of our other politicians think we are stupid. How can Herbert, with a straight face, continue to blast the fed's role in Utah while having his hand out for more money? It was in the news just this week that Utah is requesting even more money from the feds - above and beyond what we're already getting. It's mind boggling, it really is. And, don't get me started on the irony of possible cuts to HAFB and how that's being spun.
Its not hypocritical at all, Herbert said.
Governor Gary Herbert is not an honest man. He denounces federal fund assistance with one hand while taking federal funds with the other. The Indians call this, speaking with a forked tongue. We expect more of a governor. It is time to replace Herbert. The elections are coming.
Utah receives less per capita from the feds than 45 other states. we are WAAAAYYYYY down the list on states receiving federal funds. We pay federal taxes; I see nothing wrong with us expecting something in return, especially since we get so much less that blue states.
Governor Herbert is a governor through inheritance of Jon Huntsman Jr. by becoming Obama's person in China. He is governor by default, even though elected by some lack of good voters. I am still bothered by his accepting core money and giving of $13 million. He has to be cautious of where he gets his egg supply as our state has plenty of federal money that others before him have used and he still uses for his needs. It is not all direct funding but indirect funding his office of management and budget uses at their will. It sounds good to lambast the federal funds but Utahns pay taxes and some of that money or more return to the state. Utah has never been on the high end of receiving funds because we have pride in taking care of ourselves and not requesting Katrina type funds for ourselves. Governor Herbert is not a tea-party person and in a normal election year, this year, he is trying to show them he is one of them and not a Jon Huntsman Jr. person, who is good but definitely more liberal than tea-party people. Giving $13M and getting contractor money No
