âWeâre going to turn this team recruiting around 360 degrees.â âBrocno Mendenhall, 2008
So, youâre going to turn it all the way around and continue in the direction it was originally going?
Was there a Part 1? All that really needs to be said about the state of BYU recruiting can be summed up in the following:
"You got to be careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there."
BYU is going to sign Ben Olsen 3.0
In Part I watching Mr. Gurney choke while he admitted given the talent he's gotten, Bronco should be putting more players in the NFL was priceless.
So far, these two segments are great recruiting tools for the Utes, particularly with the in-state athletes.
Brandon just sat there and let the Ute Dude spew his twisted view even implying that Hinds will shift to Utah during his mission. Where were you? If the Ute dude was more advocate then reporter find someone who will fight for BYU DN!
Thunderbird,
I agree he shouldn't be speculating on any of these young men switching commitments, that easily goes both ways. but other than that, I think they were both trying to emphasize the strengths of their respective class.
Why so sensitive?
Let's hope the Utes land those great commits that have given solid "verbals". Sometimes a good recruit will change at the last minute, so things are never locked up until the last minute. I know Utah's recruit, 4-star Cedrick Poutasi, who was heavily recruited by other solid programs, visited Oregon on Jan. 20 - I hope they don't lure him away at the last minute.
Tbird, I believe it was Gurney who first mentioned the prospect of Hansen changing his mind during his mission. That Ute Dude should not have stood for that!! ...Or maybe it's all just speculation between two guys that have respect for the other team's program. Chill man.
Not to be mean, but I don't care about BYU's recruiting/commits. Come 1 Feb, whoever signs with Utah will be counted on to prove themselves to be starters, and it will be the coaching staff responsibility to coach these 2, 3, or 4 star recruits into BCS caliber players. Make Utah's football program the most dominate team in the PAC-12 and in the country!
