Wow. Am I missing something here? Toni, one of the murderers sat on the victim's legs while the other murderer cut the victim's throat. and yet Toni denies being present for the murder? I guess when Toni's parents say this, one should not be surprised that she cannot grasp reality that she is indeed a cold-blooded murderer and not a victim herself. "Toni is a very courageous and honest person," her mother, Cassie Fratto, said after the hearing. "She couldn't live with this and this was the only right thing to do and she knew that and made this decision herself." Sheesh. how can her parents live with themselves if they never admit that their daughter killed someone. why else did Toni and her partner in crime drive their fellow student into the desert? for a picnic??? of course the victim couldn't live either, thanks to Toni. Hope that justice will be served and that she will serve a very lengthy prison sentence before she has her first parole hearing.

I had exactly the same question.

From the above article: "Fratto admitted that on March 3, she struck Micaela "Mickey" Costanzo, 16, in the back with a shovel and sat on her legs while Kody Patten cut the girl's throat. When Papez asked if Fratto knew then that Micaela had been killed, she replied:

"No. I was in the car when all of that went down."

How can Fratto be both sitting on the victim's legs while Patten cuts her throat AND in the car? And how can she be sitting on the victim's legs while Patten cuts her throat and not know that the victim has been killed?

They both murdered that girl. Lock them both up, forever.

Sounds to me like here parent don't understand that their daughter has murder someone, theirs no honesty, or courageous action by their daughter. This women is just trying to excape the death pently. I believe that she should have received life in prison without parole, not a light sentence that she will be recieveing for the plea bargin. How can you be part of a murder and not know if the person is dead, sounds fishy to me.

The prosecutors appeared very good. I was surprised by the comment of the father of the girl on trial claiming that his daughter was a victim. She was a perpetrator. The other girl was a victim. I believe that the answer is to go back to teaching morality in schools. Students are taught civil rights but appear to be lacking in a concept of responsibility for their actions.

An honest person doesn't sit on a victim's legs to assist her boyfriend in the capital crime. Looks like her parents are not being honest with themselves. In a case like this I suppose that would be normal .... but not honest.
