"It was Merrill who asked the state to audit Timpview's activities budget, but he said he did that only out of an ethical and legal obligation. That audit should be completed by February and it's part of the reason the board tabled a vote on a new fundraising policy, Provo School Board President Kristine Manwaring said."
You mean Timpview's football budget.
The activities budget... And all other sports' budgets, have not been audited.
Merrill was looking for a reason to either fire coach Wong or intimidate him into leaving. Merrill failed.
Just let Coach Wong be the new Superintendent!! Then everyone will be happy!
I know for a fact that the athletic department isn't the only budget with issues at Timpview.
To state that under his "leadership" the district "improved" is a gross misrepresentation of truth. Academics at Timpview have suffered under Merrill's "leadership"(I don't know about Provo, there are less AP/college prep courses there). Teacher morale is down and frustrations are high all over the district, and student ethics is at an all time low.
Merrill may have "balanced the budget", but at what cost?
* He constantly showed favoritism toward Provo High - where he attended - to the detriment of other schools/programs - kids - in the district.
* He eliminated qualified librarians from most schools.
* He eliminated programs at Independence High and transferred high risk kids back into other high schools - where they likely will fail.
* This transfer increased class size and hurt the learning environment of others
* Under his "leadership" the teachers/admin. have been stripped of the ability to require attendance as part of grades.
*say "lawsuit" and the district rolled over even when the parents were wrong.
Good riddance I say and here's hoping they don't just hire a carbon copy.
