The USC-Utah game is going to be HUGE this year. This will be the Pac-12 South game of the year. Winner most likely will represent the south in the Pac-12 Championship Game for a trip to..........Wait for it........The Rose Bowl!

The PAC12 is doing all they can to add some intensity to the Southern division race. By leaving Stanford and Oregon off of Utah's schedule, that is what they have done. They should have scheduled this game for November.
I wish Utah well but I think they will have the same type of QB problems they did this year for the next two years. They likely won't have the offense to keep up with USC, Cal or Washington unless Wynn has a fantastic year and does not get hurt. I predict another 8-4 season and a runner up to USC in the South division.

I, along with all other Ute fans knew this long before ESPN came along and told us. It doesn't take a genius to see Utah and USC will be the best in the South division next year!

I love the BCS

2 powerhouses battling it out on ESPN - couldnt be better. I'll be there.

"2 powerhouses" LOL! Yea right. 1 powerhouse and 1 8-5 losing conference record after thought. If it is for the "south division title" which isn't much of a "title" if you think about it, it is simply because the south division is truly terrible and filled with truly terrible teams. utah might be the 2nd best team in the south division purely by default and not have anything at all to do with them being any good.

I do enjoy your irrational exuberance however LOL!

Yawn!

The same hype was spouted ad nauseum before the ASU-Utah game this season - then both teams imploded.

USC doesn't lose to teams that lose to 10-loss teams at home with the division title on the line.

Hey duck that 8-5 team beat the living tar out out of your team. LOL

"The same hype was spouted ad nauseum before the ASU-Utah game this season - then both teams imploded".

BYU's "Best Friend" ESPN is buying into the hype of the USC-Utah game. BYU should as well, after all they do kiss up to ESPN like a dog does to it's master.

In case you didn't watch the Utah-USC game last year. Utah with a healthy Jordan Wynn had USC on the ropes and was a field goal away from OT. In fact, after the loss, USC fans were impressed with Utah's debut in the Coliseum and gave them a standing ovation for a great performance against USC. Now those fans are classy!

Well BYU does loses to teams that lose to 10-Loss teams at home with the division title on the line.

They lose to teams (ASU) who lose to 8-loss teams (UA) who lost to 10-loss teams (at ASU with the division title on the line). It's football, upsets happen. This concept should give you hope that someday BYU could beat Utah, although it's only slightly less likely than Colorado doing it.

I hope everything is ok and will be soon resolved for Bogut. He's been a pretty classy guy and it'd be nice to see both of the top overall 2005 pro draft picks make a deep playoff push and represent the Utes in their respective leagues this year.

This continuing Red-Blue slam dialogue is becoming quite boring. The two teams are diverging, each will be fine in its own venue, why not leave it at that.

No need to do electronic war dances on hypotheticals. Let the annual results guage the divergence of the programs and why not wish each team well in its own venue.

As a Utah fan I'm looking forward to the upcoming combination of new and old players, new and old coaching, new and old competition for another interesting Div1 season. I'm certain many Y fans feel the same.

Hopefully rational adults can evolve beyond this puerile bickering based on pure supposition concerning the outcome of uncontrollable future events.

To anyone who paid attention, this season should have taught us (fans and players alike) that Utah cannot afford to take any win for granted in the Pac-12. That includes the rivalry games against Utah State and BYU.

I think the Utes have the potential to be very good next year, but USC will likely be a deserving Top 5 team. It will take a heroic performance for the Utes to beat the Trojans - a Utah vs. Alabama type game.

Utah has had several satisfying wins over the last several years, but to be honest, they haven't come up big against a top tier opponent since the Sugar Bowl. The USC game will provide that chance, but I hope the Utes can take care of business in the month leading up to what could be a huge game.

Coming from a "fan" of a team that is the 3rd best indy team in the country. lol

This game IS huge and your "friends" at espn have deemed it as such. If ESPN say it then it is so, right?

Everyone knows that this game will be the biggest sporting event for our little state next year. No question. Well there is the Pac 12 Champ...OK I won't go that far.

USC vs. Utah will be a big game every year. Not sure all the talk about this one being for the Pac12 South is warranted yet. Let's see how recruiting goes and how the spring goes and what the QB situation is like before we go spouting off predictions. Utah does not hold the distinction as perennial pre-season national champions - and let's keep it that way. Coach Whit is a one practice at a time, one game at a time coach and goes to great lengths to instill that culture in the team. Leave the pre-season championship talk to other programs.

The Utes will go to the rose bowl, and the basketball team will go to the final four in 2012. Whoooooa, not in this lifetime.

USC was also impressed with BYU when the Cougars played the Trojans in the Coliseum in 2003.

After building a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, the fourth-ranked Trojans (2-0) allowed BYU (1-1) to close within three points with 7:05 left before closing out the 35-18 win with two late touchdowns Saturday night.

"We expected it to be very hard and it certainly didn't disappoint us. They just kind of pecked away," USC coach Pete Carroll said.

BYU finished 4-8 in 2003, BYU's worst since 1968.

USC won the national championship.
