The real sad part i have discovered during my years of retail is that shoplifters seem to be able to get into the packages without any issue. More than a few times i have walked down an aisle a second time only to discover the clam-shell laying on the ground. And sadly there wasn't any blood showing difficulty in the opening.
But as a bit of advice, a good old fashion box cutter actually does open clam-shells rather easily. Takes practice to ensure you don't damage the product inside, but they don't break and the blades are cheap to replace.
