Congrats on the wins.

Go Utes!

I really do cheer for the Utes in most games, except when they play BYU and USU. After seeing U play the Cougs, I predicted U would beat ISU and Portland (see my prior posts).

I am not saying this to be mean spirited, but I am a realist. Don't get your hopes too high after your 2 game win streak. I would be very surprised if the Utes win another game. ISU and Portland are comparable teams to U, but the home court advantage gave U the edge.

The teams U play the rest of the reason are not in the bottom 10%. But if you do win another game, you should be ecstastic. Hopefully that will mean U are getting better.

For those trying to draw comparisons to the 1 win Coug team of nearly two decades ago, please give it up. There are too many differences to draw any meaningful comparisons. The biggest difference is that the Cougs low point in history. The Cougs have a bright future going forward.

If the Utes finish with only 3 wins as you poredict (you actually predicted 1 win back at the beginning of the season, nice to see you change), this year would be BY FAR the lowest point in their history. And like the Cougars, could turn it around.

Yes. You did change that after the BYU game. It remains to be seen what you will change when the Utes win their first PAC-12 game.

If the WCC is on par, or even better, than the PAC-12 as many BYU fans have eluded to on these boards, should the U not be able to pick up a few more games?

You seem to be implying that this doesn't happen to be our lowest point ever, and that we don't have a bright future. Well, even if we get a few more wins it would be our worst season ever. Ever!

And to say that we don't have a bright future with a great first recruiting class, and even more important than that, a great coaching staff, then I don't know what to tell you. And I think the recruiting trend will continue.

Even if we don't win much more, I still support the Utes and will continue to follow them ceaselessly! Go Utes!

CFITX:

Well, that ant the fact the Utes already have 3 times more wins at their low point in history. It IS a valid comparison.

I would be very surprised if they didn't. Yeeah they're playing better teams, but they have something like 18 games left. There's going to be a fluke win, a game where the opponent just doesn't show up, a game where everything just clicks for Utah... those things happen. My prediction is a 3-15 conference record so it's not like I'm expecting much at all.

It would not surprise me that much if the Utes won a couple of PAC games later in the season. The PAC, according to CBS sports is "not a good conference" in basketball this year. Maybe 4 good teams and the rest are weak and have been beaten by average teams from "weaker" conferences. I don't think the Utes will beat any good teams this year but am betting they finish with 5-7 wins.

CougFaninTx,

You're right about there being too many differences to compare this Ute team to the one win BYU squad. Perhaps the biggest difference is that the Utes have never had a season as bad as that BYU season and fortunately this one isn't going to be that bad either.

Hey winning is always better than losing and utah won so utah fans should be happy about it. I have no idea if they will win again this year or not but for a day at least utah fans get to be happy about a win. They should enjoy the moment.

What is a University of Portland? Geez. Come on...winning against a JC outfit. This is just crazy, extolling the Utes for a miserable win over a silly team. I can't believe the lies people will believe and the silly statements they make over this event. Every major university in the country is scheduling dumb teams to pad their win/loss records, and this is just another one in the case of the Utes. And I am a Ute fan believe me. I just can't see getting all worked up over this. This is going to be a disasterous season for Ute B ball and everyone is prepared for it. Let's just hope Coach K can keep the wheels on the program going forward, and can bring in some talent to play at this level. Go Utes.

It's a Ute two win Christmas miracle... against a losing record team. As ducky said "enjoy the moment". There might actually be more where that came from but don't get your hopes too high.

Remember, high hopes are only reserved for Ute football teams.
