St George residents know that there's a Popeye's Fried Chicken in Mesquite, Nevada.
I recall that students at a private school in SLC considered Popeye's in D.C. one of the reasons for going on a field trip there. I found the article to be entertaining and informative.
Considering the large number of southerners in the SLC area I'm surprised that there aren't more restaurants serving southern food. Someone could open up a Popeye's, Bojangles, Biscuitville or Cookout and make a killing. Just look at the success Chick-fil-a has had... their restaurants are always packed.
We've started a Facebook group called "We Need Popeyes in Utah!" This group's goal is to help spread the word that all of Utah wants the opportunity to enjoy the delicious goodness that is Louisiana fried chicken, mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy, and mouthwatering buttery biscuits!
