Credit the Utes and Coach K for dictating the pace of play at the outset, but
this game was never in doubt. Also, credit the Utes for scoring 42
points. I did not think they'd make that many buckets after dismal shooting in
the first half. This game did reveal some important BYU weaknesses.
It identified how to frustrate Hartsock at the outset. Credit Farr for some
tough defense. But Utah was badly overmatched and may not win another
game this season. . . but that's not news, is it?What was a bit
silly was the television commentary by Reggie Theus who did not appear to have a
handle on much of anything in his comments, beyond restating the obvious.Next week's game against Baylor should be interesting with Carlino
becoming eligible. Cusick surprised me with his solid shooting. Winder played
worse than I expected and hoped. The BYU defense, coupled with Utah's
one-dimensional offense, really hampered Utah from doing much offensively during
the first half. Frankly, I think Utah would have had trouble against Lone Peak
High School today.
No matter any way you analyze the results.....it feels great to beat the Utes by
20 in the Huntsman Center. Good job Cougs. The Utes had nothing to lose and no
pressure and BYU had all the pressure on them and were expected to win by 30
plus points. A 19 point victory today and 25 point victory last year at the
Huntsman Center does not happen very often. I don't remember it ever happening
in BYU's long history. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
i am happy the utes are beyond awful. Just wanted to let the ute fans know I am
happy they are not.
Congrats on the win Cougars. However, the behavior displayed by many
of the Y fans in attendance was nothing short of disgusting.I know a
lot of BYU fans had to have been embarrassed by such awful representation.
Tomahawk RedCheering for BYU in the Huntsman is only disgusting if
you're a Utah fan.
Tomahawk RedThis team is in the toilet and you are just trying to
stir the pot by calling out Y fans as classless, typical.
Any victory for the Cougars is a good one, regardless who the victim may be. I
thought some of officiating was awful, allowing a mugging down deep by Utah and
very few calls. If the officials would have cleaned up the game by calling
early fouls, the blowout would have been epic believe me. There was a lot of
homer no calls. I'm seeing a lot of brutal play in collegiate games I have
viewed so far this season where a physical contact is ignored in many cases.
This trend seems to be growing at all levels of play.Continued
success to the Cougars. And I don't wish any ill will toward the Utes. They
just have no talent at this level of play this year. It has to be discouraging
for the coaches.
@tomahawk dullSo give us some examples. Some real ones.
