how much of the $256k is daddy's money

West Valley, UT

Look at all the millions collected by candidates. Just think what that money could do if it were put to use trying to improve our nation's economic situation.

you are correct. And when you consider BO has collected more than all the repubs combined....

I was wondering why the article went to pollster Dan Jones for quotes? Shouldn't he attempt to be impartial and stay above the back and forth debate?

Dear Delta Foxtrot: The amounts do seem excessive, BUT all this money gets put back into the economy. It pays for all kinds of goods and services that are needed on campaigns which gives people jobs and circulates money througout the economy. The money doesn't just sit there in a bank. It gets spread around really fast.

Huntsman can't even beat Romney in his own home state. I wish he would get out now and quick wasting his time and money.

Huntsman was a good governor for Utah and he far surpasses Romney as a politician with common sense and brains. And he is staying out of the religion nonsense cause he knows that it is inappropriate and doesn't belong in politics. Yet Utahns give more to Romney. What does that say about Utahns? Go figure.

I wouldn't give Romney a dollar.

Let him go to his favorite people....

'Corporations are people, friend' - Mitt romney

Corporations are Mitt's friends, this money from Utah is just chump change.

A vote for Romney is a vote for "job creators" sending more jobs to India and China in the endless chase of dollars.

Obama needs it, the Koch brothers plan to spend 200 million in ads against him with their superpac and Rove's group plans to spend 240 million in ads.

Greed, greed, greed. When Repubs come up with a plan that doesn't involve pure greed, I'll start listening.

DN is doing their best to further Romney's campaign, including editing comments about Romney's past record.....

How can faithful members of the LDS Church support a candidate who ignored "A Procalamation To The World" by signing into law a bill legalizing gay marriages? On top of this, Brother Romney for many years was pro-abortion. Go Figure!

Richmond, VA

Greed is deeply ingrained in both Republicans and Democrats alike. If you think Republicans only are the greedy ones then you are either delusional or else your head is under a rock. As for the Koch brothers and Rove's group planning to spend 200 million and 240 million respectively against Obama, that may or may not be true, but it's still pale compared to the billion plus Obama's campaign have already raised and ready to spend. I don't vote parties. I don't give a rip whether one is a Republican or Democrat. I vote issues only, so those who closely follow the ones that are in line with my beliefs, are the ones who will get my vote, be they Democrat or Republican or whatever. As things stands right now with the current administration, I couldn't be more sad with the direction our nation is heading. The hope and change they promised is a nightmare, definitely not the kind the country expected. God have mercy on us! We are in serious trouble if we can't reverse the course we're in now.

I've had my questions about Romney ever since his official endorsement of Rocky Anderson as SLC mayor in 2003. But of the current crop of candidates that stand a chance, he isn't bad.

Oh well if you want to talk about money Obama has more money then all the rest of the candidates combined.

What does the Huntsman/Romney polls tell us?. Seeing Utah has a pop of 2.3 million people, and a small handfull took the polls, Mitt Romney is north of 30 points ahead of Jon Huntsman in Utah, to Huntsman's 10 percent or 12 percent in the state where the latter served as governor, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey. THAT MEANS THE REST will vote for Obama for 4 more years. If two Utah favorite sons ran for president in 2012, which one would draw more support in the Beehive State? A new Dan Jones poll for KSL-TV and the Deseret News finds Mitt Romney outpacing Gov. Jon Huntsman. In our statewide poll this week of 254 Utahns, we asked: "Which of the two do you prefer?." 55 percent say Romney; 32 percent say Huntsman. Those were from the LDS Church. Brainwashed and forced to vote against President Obama, 67 percent of Utahns would pick Romney to Obama's 27 percent. There are over 400 million people in America, meaning Utah don't count for squat. Florida is the swing state. We deside. Not Utah.

Utahns give Romney $1.9 million, Huntsman $256,000.

Thats there problem.

South Jordan, UT

I don't think Romney was seeking the "religion non-sense", it came to him. It would be the same for Hunstman if he was one of the front runners, but he's not and there is a reason for that. He's a republican with a capital "D".

Dixie Dan. Gay marriage was forced upon Massachusetts, and Romney, by the Massachusetts Supreme Court.

I tolf you I would tell you all the truth. I didn't say you would like it. All while the crooked Corporations called Utahns gave Romney $1.9 million, Huntsman just $256,000, and Koch Brother's are Corporations that's Mitt's only friends, other then DN and the LDS Church in Utah, plus DN is still editing comments about Romney's past record, and ignored "A Procalamation To The World" by signing into law a bill legalizing gay marriages and abortion's, they are in a feeding frenzy to elect Romney?. The economy is still hurting. Thirty percent of illegals in Utah are so disillusioned, they are thinking of moving back to Mexico. This hurts Romney badly for his votes in Utah.

Utahans recognize that, while Romney has excelled on his own merits in every aspect of his life, everything that Huntsman has "achieved" was greased by his father's billions. After dropping out of high school, Huntsman got into Wharton. Is it a coincidence that there is a large building named after Huntsman at Wharton? I think not. Then, Daddy's political connections got Jonny a staff position in Washington. Jonny's private sector experience was at Daddy's company. Jonny slid into the governorship on the strength of the family name.

And, little Jonny's sneering disdain for all of us provincial little covenant-keepers doesn't help much, either.
