@ MonkeySpider | 8:04 a.m. Nov. 3, 2011 Wall St loves Mitty. Its
really not shocking. If Romney is elected, there is a 101% chance
nothing will change from the last 12 yrs.
Ron Paul is Ronald Regan and Obama is Jimmy Carter. Obama will lose the election
in every state just like carter did also.
I don't know why the GOP is even trying. Romney is the best hope they've got and
he won't stand a chance against Obama. We'll see you guys in 2016.
Mitt Romney's Top 3 campaign contributors: Goldman Sachs: $354,700 / Credit
Suisse Group: $195,250 / Morgan Stanley: $185,800. In other words, all those
that received bailouts and expect to continue receiving bailouts.Ron Paul's Top 3 campaign contributors: US Army: $78,056 / US
Navy: $56,769 / US Air Force: $55,405Ron Paul for President in 2012!
Thank you DSB about your comment re "deluded". Romney proved
he wasn't of the same mold, when shortly after the 2008 Super Tuesday, he
gracefully withdrew from the race. Mitt knows his math.
I do not get the magic spell Romney holds over republicans in this state. He
just another rich guy who wants to make his friends even more rich at the
expense of the middle class. Never mind I get it now.
The ignorance spewed forth on this thread is truly comedic. Dixie Dan - you
really don't know the difference between a legislative bill and a court order?
How would Romney veto a court order, exactly?CougarKeith - so, you
believe abortion is MURDER, but you don't think it can be outlawed? Guess what
- until sometime in the 70's, abortion was against the law, so apparently it is
possible. Furthermore, I think most people still believe murder should be
against the law, and not a matter of personal free agency. If you think it's
NOT murder, then you may have something to argue, but really - you think we
can't legislate against murder?Regarding Romney and Huntsman, I
actually like Huntsman, but I really wonder about the level of self deluded ego
it takes for someone like him, or Santorum, or even Bachman at this point, to
persist as a self-proclaimed legitimate Presidential candidate when it's obvious
to any clear-thinking person that the only reason they're not mathematically
eliminated from the contest is because American's rank 25th in the world in
math. At this point many of them, including Huntsman, are just poisoning the
Republican water and embarrassing themselves.
DeltaFoxtrot | 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1, 2011 "Just think what
that money could do if it were put to use trying to improve our nation's
economic situation."It's not the need of more money, but how
it's spent or managed. If rich people gave all their money to taxes, we'd still
have a bad economic situation. Obama would probably give more to foreign aid.
Spending is the problem. Don't count on government improving things. Our debt is equal to paying five hundred thousand dollars a second for an
entire year. The money of rich people is like a drop of water in an ocean.
It's sounds like the reason that SOME of those commenting on these
Romney/Huntsman political articles are for Romney and against Huntsman, is
because Romney appears to be a "letter of the law" member of the
church while Huntsman is more of a "spirit of the law" member of the
Dixie Dan | 1:55 p.m. Nov. 2, 2011 Saint George, UT,Go look it
up on your own. You shouldn't be asking people over a comment board about what
candidates have/haven't done/believe/don't believe/why they did something/why
they didn't do something. To veto a bill is a process and not something that can
magically happen. It takes time an energy. So while you are already looking up
information about candidates, I suggest you look up the process of vetoing the
bill. Ya know, this country is complicated, it's not what Mrs. White said in 3rd
grade, "If you don't like a bill, all you have to do is veto it!". It's your right as an American to look it up, find out, make an EDUCATED
opinion (not one off previous bias) and go vote.Voting off
discrimination/bias/religious affiliation/sex,etc is what puts this country at
Some interesting reading about what Romney left behind in Mass, Google:
Lauren and Nick DestitoAlso Google: MassResistance
To Gramma b: how about Romney showing some couragae and vetoing the bill. He
could then had let the Massachusetts legislature over ride the bill but he chose
not to. Absolutely no back bone! He flips more than a pancake at Ihop!
@ Dixie Dan - you obviously know nothing about who Romney is as a person. Your
comments are ignorant of the truth.
@CougarKeith"My conscience couldn't allow me to vote for someone who
supports GAY MARRIAGE and in GOOD CONSCIENCE can stand with a straight face and
claim to be a "MORMON". How do you justify that?""Does this man hold a recommend? If so, how can he do so with in good

Whitney Clayton of the Seventy, speaking on prop 8 and specifically the question
of whether or not the church requires members to be on a particular side of the
issue. But hey, go ahead and show one of the reasons why 50% of
liberal members of the church are inactive while only 20% overall are inactive.
Oh, and if I remember correctly... Huntsman supports civil unions,
not gay marriage.
Re: Blue | 11:27 a.m. Nov. 2, 2011 "He's the only GOP candidate with
a real chance of beating Obama"Democratic strategist James
Carville has just one word of advice for President Barack Obama: Panic. When
the voters tie a can on Obama's tail in 2012 we want someone who knows how to
balance a checkbook, and Romney has proven he can do it.The majority
of voters expect Obama to lose the election and right now only 20% of the likely
votes strongly support him.
Pagan,"'Corporations are people, friend' - Mitt Romney"Oh those evil corporations. How awful and teribble they they are.Why don't we all emulate some of these third world countries where
massive starvation and poverty take place? They're really happy not having evil
corporations around to supply jobs and businesses.I live a few miles
from the border. Walk across and you'll find dozens of people begging on the
streets. It's a different world there, and I'm sure they miss those terrible
rich people who don't pay their fair share.Yes! Romney shouldn't
cater to corporations and the rich. We need BO steering us to a third world
status. Hmmm! We're heading in that direction.Let's make the rich
pay alittle more?---In a free country as ours, people cause their own failures,
not the rich or corporations. If you don't like successful people with money,
there's plenty of little villages in Mexico waiting for you to move in.
gramma b @ 11:06 amAnd who do you think appointed those supreme
court judges? It was Mitt Romney.
I wouldn't give either of these guys 1 cent. Obama doesn't even have to win the
election. If one of these guys get elected, we will have the same thing.
Re:Gramma bBoth Romney and Huntsman had successful and prominent fathers.
Neither can divorce their success from their father's.Mitt Romney's father
was CEO of AMC and Gov. of Michigan. Mitt had perks--such as attending a
private prep school while Huntsman attended public schools.Wharton
named a building after Huntsman in 2002. Jon Huntsman Jr held positions under
Reagan and H.W. Bush, Gov, and most recently Ambassador to China. I
don't think you can diminish Jon Huntsman's accomplishments unless you hold the
same ruler to Romney.
CougarKeith: As you can see from my previous post, I have absolutely no respect
for Huntsman. But, in the interest of accuracy, I don't think he has ever
endorsed gay marriage. I believe he endorsed civil unions while governor. He
avoids mentioning the subject on his official website. If I am wrong, and he
has now "evolved" his position to support gay marriage, I'd be
interested in seeing where he has done that. That would give me one more reason
to dislike him.
Romney was never "Pro Abortion", he was "PRO-CHOICE", Any
good member of the Church should know CHOICE is the base principle in the
Gospel! He supported the Gospel in this case, his stance, PRO-CHOICE, and he
said, THE CHOICE SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOR LIFE!!! I don't understand the argument
here? I feel that way myself! You cannot legislate MORALITY! You cannot outlaw
Abortion! You can make sure that girls and women know the BEST CHOICE is for
LIFE and ADOPTION IS THE BEST CHOICE for those who are in error and have
unwanted pregnancies for whatever reason! Abortion should always be the VERY
LAST CHOICE in any case! It is a horrible thing, and it is MURDER! The
fundamental element in God's plan is the FREEDOM of Choice, whether it be right
or wrong! You simply can not legislate Morality! Although it would be nice, you
cannot do it! Look at Prostitution, Prohibition, and other forms of morality
legislated, such as gambling. Once you legalize them, you cannot rid your
society of them without creating more problems then when they were legal!
Prohibition was the Great Experiment of That!
Huntsman is rational, thoughtful and moderate, so of course he struggles raising
money among Republicans, especially in Utah. He's the only GOP
candidate with a real chance of beating Obama, but the party seems blind to
this. You guys are making this bed, get ready to sleep in it.
This is simple to explain, utahn's believe Romney is not a waste of their money!
Simple fact is, Huntsman Jr IS!!! Where is the news here? Huntsman favors GAY
MARRIAGE, how is that a CONSERVATIVE or even an LDS MESSAGE??? News Flash: IT
ISN'T!!! My conscience couldn't allow me to vote for someone who supports GAY
MARRIAGE and in GOOD CONSCIENCE can stand with a straight face and claim to be a
"MORMON". How do you justify that? Isn't that "Agreeing with a
teaching that is CONTRARY to the teachings and doctrine of the church"? If
so/or not, isn't that contrary to the teachings of our Father in Heaven and that
of Jesus Christ? Does this man hold a recommend? If so, how can he do so with in
good conscience? There is the pure sign of a POLITICIAN if I ever Saw One!
Utahans recognize that, while Romney has excelled on his own merits in every
aspect of his life, everything that Huntsman has "achieved" was
greased by his father's billions. After dropping out of high school, Huntsman
got into Wharton. Is it a coincidence that there is a large building named
after Huntsman at Wharton? I think not. Then, Daddy's political connections
got Jonny a staff position in Washington. Jonny's private sector experience was
at Daddy's company. Jonny slid into the governorship on the strength of the
family name. And, little Jonny's sneering disdain for all of us
provincial little covenant-keepers doesn't help much, either.
I tolf you I would tell you all the truth. I didn't say you would like it. All
while the crooked Corporations called Utahns gave Romney $1.9 million, Huntsman
just $256,000, and Koch Brother's are Corporations that's Mitt's only friends,
other then DN and the LDS Church in Utah, plus DN is still editing comments
about Romney's past record, and ignored "A Procalamation To The
World" by signing into law a bill legalizing gay marriages and abortion's,
they are in a feeding frenzy to elect Romney?. The economy is still hurting.
Thirty percent of illegals in Utah are so disillusioned, they are thinking of
moving back to Mexico. This hurts Romney badly for his votes in Utah.
Dixie Dan. Gay marriage was forced upon Massachusetts, and Romney, by the
Massachusetts Supreme Court.
@aumacoma:I don't think Romney was seeking the "religion
non-sense", it came to him. It would be the same for Hunstman if he was
one of the front runners, but he's not and there is a reason for that. He's a
republican with a capital "D".
What does the Huntsman/Romney polls tell us?. Seeing Utah has a pop of 2.3
million people, and a small handfull took the polls, Mitt Romney is north of 30
points ahead of Jon Huntsman in Utah, to Huntsman's 10 percent or 12 percent in
the state where the latter served as governor, according to a new Public Policy
Polling survey. THAT MEANS THE REST will vote for Obama for 4 more years. If
two Utah favorite sons ran for president in 2012, which one would draw more
support in the Beehive State? A new Dan Jones poll for KSL-TV and the Deseret
News finds Mitt Romney outpacing Gov. Jon Huntsman. In our statewide poll this
week of 254 Utahns, we asked: "Which of the two do you prefer?." 55
percent say Romney; 32 percent say Huntsman. Those were from the LDS Church.
Brainwashed and forced to vote against President Obama, 67 percent of Utahns
would pick Romney to Obama's 27 percent. There are over 400 million people in
America, meaning Utah don't count for squat. Florida is the swing state. We
deside. Not Utah.Utahns give Romney $1.9 million, Huntsman
$256,000.Thats there problem.
@Pagan Oh well if you want to talk about money Obama has more money then
all the rest of the candidates combined.
I've had my questions about Romney ever since his official endorsement of Rocky
Anderson as SLC mayor in 2003. But of the current crop of candidates that stand
a chance, he isn't bad.
Greed is deeply ingrained in both Republicans and Democrats alike. If you think
Republicans only are the greedy ones then you are either delusional or else your
head is under a rock. As for the Koch brothers and Rove's group planning to
spend 200 million and 240 million respectively against Obama, that may or may
not be true, but it's still pale compared to the billion plus Obama's campaign
have already raised and ready to spend. I don't vote parties. I don't give a
rip whether one is a Republican or Democrat. I vote issues only, so those who
closely follow the ones that are in line with my beliefs, are the ones who will
get my vote, be they Democrat or Republican or whatever. As things stands right
now with the current administration, I couldn't be more sad with the direction
our nation is heading. The hope and change they promised is a nightmare,
definitely not the kind the country expected. God have mercy on us! We are in
serious trouble if we can't reverse the course we're in now.
How can faithful members of the LDS Church support a candidate who ignored
"A Procalamation To The World" by signing into law a bill legalizing
gay marriages? On top of this, Brother Romney for many years was pro-abortion.
DuhDN is doing their best to further Romney's campaign, including editing
comments about Romney's past record.....
Greed, greed, greed. When Repubs come up with a plan that doesn't involve pure
greed, I'll start listening.
@lost in DCObama needs it, the Koch brothers plan to spend 200 million in
ads against him with their superpac and Rove's group plans to spend 240 million
Corporations are Mitt's friends, this money from Utah is just chump change. A vote for Romney is a vote for "job creators" sending more
jobs to India and China in the endless chase of dollars.
I wouldn't give Romney a dollar. Let him go to his favorite
people.... corporations. 'Corporations are people,
friend' - Mitt romney
Huntsman was a good governor for Utah and he far surpasses Romney as a
politician with common sense and brains. And he is staying out of the religion
nonsense cause he knows that it is inappropriate and doesn't belong in politics.
Yet Utahns give more to Romney. What does that say about Utahns? Go figure.
Dear Delta Foxtrot: The amounts do seem excessive, BUT all this money gets put
back into the economy. It pays for all kinds of goods and services that are
needed on campaigns which gives people jobs and circulates money througout the
economy. The money doesn't just sit there in a bank. It gets spread around
really fast.Huntsman can't even beat Romney in his own home state.
I wish he would get out now and quick wasting his time and money.
I was wondering why the article went to pollster Dan Jones for quotes?
Shouldn't he attempt to be impartial and stay above the back and forth debate?
Delta, you are correct. And when you consider BO has collected more than
all the repubs combined....
Look at all the millions collected by candidates. Just think what that money
could do if it were put to use trying to improve our nation's economic
how much of the $256k is daddy's money
