No it doesn't! Cain said if you didn't have a job and you were not rich, it was your own fault!
Remember?

"But if any of the presidential hopefuls really understands all those numerals, it is likely Herman Cain."

I have to disagree. In a 2005 editorial, Herman Cain wrote this:

"You could write a book just on how poor the coverage has been of the alleged housing bubble. The media have been foretelling a massive bust in housing prices for months now... That kind of ignorance makes homeowners fear that their most expensive possession could turn worthless overnight. That wont happen."

There was one presidential candidate predicting the bursting of the housing bubble before it happened, and not just reacting to it, and that was Ron Paul. Unfortunately, we have conditioned ourselves to believe that only those who have run a business can understand an economy, when they have often just seen a small part of a worldwide economy. If you want someone to maximize a profit, Herman Cain and Mitt Romney are great. If you want someone who understands how economies work as a whole, and what causes our endless booms and busts, do some research into Ron Paul and Austrian economics.

I agree with Cain, there are jobs, if you don't have a job you don't want one. In my long career, during recessions, always caused by poor political policies, I had to step down in my work. I got laid off, I had to go from white collar to blue collar, ultimately I ended up an EVP of a national investment banking house and then owner of my own family company for 10 years, now talk about working your behind off. Even my seventeen year old granddaughter has a job. We have developed a dependent class with learned helplessness and an entitlement mentality. That attitude is going to get you a stagnant life. It is not only disasterous for the individual, it is deadly for the country. I'm contributing to Cain and hope to see him president. He's brilliant, he's practical, he is blessed with a fine temperment. I like some of Ron Paul's ideas, but in other areas his train has left the station.

Cain is right. If you don't have a job it's because you don't want one. During my career, and during recessions (caused by poor political policies) I have had to step down from white collar to blue collar, ultimately rising to EVP of a national investment house and then ten years with my own family owned company, talk about working your behind off. We have developed a dependent class with learned helplessness and an entitlement attitude. This will get you a stagnant life. Not only is it disasterous for the individual it is deadly for the country. Don't expect someone to "give" you a job, have something to offer, be productive. Even my seventeen year old granddaughter has a job.

"And that means we get the Federal Reserve back to one thing and that is controlling inflation.

Even students of an introductory "Money and Banking" class knows better than this. The Fed has 2, some times conflicting, goals - keep inflation low and employment high. According to those who calculate COLA for social security and the FRB, inflation is in check. Unemployment, on the other hand, is far too high.

And can you support yourself, let alone a spouse and two kids on minimum wage? I believe it's $7.25/hour?

During the healthcare debates the phrase 'working poor'. People who worked 40 hours a week, full time and had trouble paying for food, housing, and (you guessed it) healthcare.

The claim that 'the jobs are out there' is misleading. America continues to have less benifits, wage increases and positions to make any rise in the middle class.

@FDRfan

Anybody who has to consistently shop for groceries knows that inflation is much more than 3.6% or some of the other numbers the government gives. Depending on the method you use, some calculate inflation as high as 8.5% It makes sense for the government to low-ball the inflation numbers because then they get to keep the difference when they make cost of living adjustments, as they have just done with SS checks.

I agree. That is why I included the "according to", but the point was that Herman Cain is clueless. Makes me wonder if affirmative action had some thing to do with his appointment to Federal Reserve.

"Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks, if you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself!" Cain said. "It is not a person's fault because they succeeded, it is a person's fault if they failed."

That's what Cain said in the previous debate. Now he want's to help....

Coming around, Herman?

You said earlier that an audit of the fed is unnecessary.

But then, after a partial audit was cleared, the Federal Reserve was found to have loaned out 16 TRILLION DOLLARS to international banks. Uhhh that is unacceptable. Bailouts to other banks? And the American Public wasn't allowed to know?

I think you are part of the problem. Ron Paul, who predicted the housing bubble 5 years before it happened, has been consistently warning about the evils of the federal reserve and its inflationary tactics, which is a hidden tax upon the people.

Vote Ron Paul. He knows the constitution better than anyone, including Romney. There have been more than one debate to when Ron Paul had to educate Romney that the Constitution requires Congress to declare war. Even I knew that but Romney didn't. That is almost a deal breaker when a candidate for president doesn't know the constitution as much as a normal citizen.

Ron Paul is a true constitutionalist, a true american.

@ Leopard - I recommended your comment, not because I completely agree with you but because I applaud your drive and sentiment. I also like Cain, not because I believe he has all the answers (999 has so many holes it's dead on arrival), but he is a man who made the best of every opportunity given him and never waited for a hand out. When looking at character, he is far and above the most respectable. Most of the other candidates had a lot of things handed to them as they made it to the top (not that I fault them for accepting).

I miss the good old days when the DJIA was 14+k during the Bush administration and unemployment was 7.5%.

The economy needs help? Really? What a revelation!

Don't let Cain's pizza pie fool you... he worked for the FED, the group of banks that rules the world, he is their candidate and the last thing they need is more power.
