Good luck Carl!
Carl Wimmer in washington is the last thing we need. The voice of Un-Reason, May god have mercy on our souls if we send this guy to Washington D.C.
"We literally stand on a precipice..." Really, you're literally standing on a physical precipice? The word is "figuratively," not "literally." Any politician who hasn't mastered his own native tongue is not getting my vote.
Ducati you have obviously never met the man. He is a man of incredible integrity. He is an effective conservative, which of course leads me to think you must be a liberal. Only liberals don't like Wimmer.
jenny4u -- got news for you. Right here is a conservative who doesn't care at all for Wimmer.
Of course, I'm constantly accused of being a liberal. But I'm probably more conservative than you are.
It's just that no one can agree on definitions for those two words. And it depends on which part of the country you're in.
Or perhaps how extreme you are.

"Right here is a conservative who doesn't care at all for Wimmer"
If it talks like a liberal, walks like a liberal, and shares the views of a liberal ...... it is probably a liberal. There are those among us who would consider Obama to be a conservative.
Isn't that what they all say?
you know, I'm sick and tired of guys who run with experience. Really, then they become career politicians. The buzz words, the rhetoric, the good feeling fuzzy words that people want to hear doesn't mean anything. They are words. One single man cannot change what is going on in Congress. Taking a 2x4? Really? All talk. No substance. How about supporting term limits, same health care that reps pay for and not we the people? Now about no retirement fund; serve for 6 years and then go back to work. Your time serving the people is over. How about the issue of obama NOT being a born citizen? How about the issue of obama and his czars? Nope, just a 2x4 to Congress. He doesn't have my vote if I lived in Utah.
Rifleman -- will you please give us a sensible definition of what "conservative" means to you?
Not a bunch of gibberish, but a real working definition.
I know Rep Wimmer pretty well and appreciate him for what he is. You can expect a lot of complaints from the few liberals here in Utah, but you can be sure that very few have never talked with him
Too bad that Rep Wimmer couldn't get his bill passed in the last session of the Utah Legislature that would have stopped taxpayer subsidized instate tuition for illegal aliens at Utah's public colleges and universities. If he couldn't get that done where there are only about 17 democrats in the Utah House, and only 75 total house members, how will he get anything done in the U.S. Congress with 435 members and about 200 democrats?
Utah is flyover country in the U.S. House of Representatives with only 4 seats and so we need to make everyone of them count. That said I think Rep Wimmer would be a good choice, but let's see who else shows up.
Carl Wimmer is a good and honest man, and tels you what he thinks and how he will vote. That may not be fashionable among politicians these days, but we can be sure of what we get with him.
His positions are most often right (although a few might say too far right) and he will help move us away fromthe disastrous results given by the liberals and moderates in Congress over the last 20-30 years.
We can do far worse than Wimmer ("Trillion dollar" Jim Matheson for example) but maybe even better with some other candidate, so I am willing to see who else jumps in.
But, Wimmer is good enoughm so we can be thankful we have him running!
He will be one of 435. He's going to change that town and this country. He'll need to work with a lot of people...some of whom he won't like. That'll be the day.

"Rifleman -- will you please give us a sensible definition of what "conservative" means to you?"
A Conservative is a person who doesn't believe the song and dance Obama is trying to sell.
A Conservative is a person who understands the concept of savings, debt and interest. Those who understand interest earn it while those who don't pay it.
One old man,
The definition of a conservative in Utah is someone who is to the right of the tea party. The definition of a liberal is anyone who is left of the tea party even if only by an inch or two.
