10% flat tax? Let's give the top a massive tax cut, raise taxes on the bottom, and make overall revenue so low our deficits skyrocket? No thanks.

"It is not totally flawless. With so much of our countrys wealth concentrated in the hands of so few individuals and families, this regressive approach will only exacerbate the demonic divide between the moneyed and everybody else. Besides, if the growing poor can just give pennies, we may not have enough for all our national needs."

Really these are crucial flaws that are by themselves enough to make this plan worthless.

"This is where the other half of Malachi comes in, offerings. The ones with the money could volunteer to pay for a Marine division, the less affluent, a tank. The small number of families, who possess half the wealth, could cover health care for the uninsured."

There's a reason taxes are required to be paid... given the option nobody would pay them.

RE: atl134

Have actually donethat math,

The flat is the most fairest and most progressive tax there is.

(maybe God does know something we don't?)

Under the flat tax the wealthest pay 99 percent of the tax,

and wahti s more important, everyone should paying SOMEHTING in,
everyone must and should have a stake in this country.

THe idea that there should be freeloaders is very wrong indeedm no matter how rich some else is.

Greed and coveteousness of other's property is very unbecoming,
and has served no one but those who want political power,

No attempts at wealth redistriubtuion has, in the history opf the world, has every made the poor or middle class rich,

but it has made a lot people pooer.

only a limited amount of money is need for programs like education the rest is up to the individual.

but one more program after another for the poor does not make thm richer,

just more comfortable in thier poverty,

and everyone is entitled to thier success.

It should never be left up to the coveteous to decide what is "fair", there is no end going down that road.

"For the sake of tradition, lets go with a tithe of 10 percent. "

---

For the sake of "tradition" then, lets also point out that Tithes and Offerings came out of the SURPLUS of the individual's budget - i.e., AFTER they'd paid ALL their other bills (housing, food, clothing, etc.).

It wasn't paid on Net or Gross ("Would you rather have net blessings or gross blessings?" - which statement is actually quite gross!).

@the Truth;

Let's talk about "greed and covetousness".

What about all these CEO's cutting their employee's wages so they can UP their own Salary? (greedy and covetous perhaps of other people's money?)

Not a bad idea.Somewhat like Herman Cain. Love the idea of EVERYONE paying something. There has and always will be rich and poor. The rich will always pay more but the poor should pay something. My greatest hope is the poor will take an interest in how their tax dollars are being spent and participate more in their country's future. As soon as I earned my first paycheck and saw the taxes taken, let's just say it caught my interest.
My religion, background and conscience require that I help those less fortunate than I.Part of that help is presenting ways for the poor to take care of themselves and each person to reach their full potential. That is rarely accomplished by providing a person with basic needs for a prolonged period ,but by providing education and exposure to appropriate behavior in a society.

"The flat is the most fairest and most progressive tax there is."

It is not the most progressive tax. In fact fair tax advocates attack the current progressive tax structure because they don't want a progressive tax because they consider it unfair.

"Under the flat tax the wealthest pay 99 percent of the tax"

That's just false, or you're using a weird definition of wealthy that suddenly encompasses everybody above the poverty line.

There is no way that making taxes 10% across the board, when the wealthy currently pay higher rates than those at the bottom.... would make things more progressive.

what does a medical doctor know about taxes, finance, and economics?

As this article demonstrates: nothing.
