Last Spring I was in DC to be with friends whose toddler was dying of brain cancer. While out for a walk one day, I met two precious women on the sidewalk with their groceries and carrying a beautiful potted plant. I commented on the plant and before we knew it, we were engaged in a warm, friendly conversation and I explained my visit from Utah. They asked if they could pray for our little Tristan, and so on the side of a busy street, we joined hands, women different in race and religion, but in harmony of love as each shared in prayer together. I think of them often, those sweet sisters. Just remembering them lifts my heart, and I thank God for them.
