...The U. is telling Ute fans: don't be a fake...
Then, I have this to tell a Ute --Jordan Wynn--: don't be a Jake....
All the under armor stuff in the book store is $50 or more per item. Please keep making the "knock off" stuff. I and many more will continue to buy it until the U decides to stop the greed (not likely).
gonefishn
Suggestion: just go to the next rack and you'll find a different brand cotton t-shirt for $20.
Under Armor is a quality product. I have an U Under Armor hoody and it is my favorite sweatshirt and will likely last me much longer than a basic cotton hoody. You get what you pay for my friend; although I do think Under Armor is still a bit over-priced.
Dude, like the article said, a lot of these costs go back to the school programs, such as scholarships (like mine), the facilities, and the construction going on here to make the U better (and by construction, I'm not just talking athletics, I mean the new science building, maintaining campus, etc...). So, just think about how many scholarships you are denying deserving but needy kids by getting these knockoffs and costing the school hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I'd rather spend my $50 on a standing-room-only ticket. Just buy a cheap $5 red t-shirt and U can still call yourself a Ute fan.
"Eden said during the U.'s match against Texas Christian University last year, the U. had five crews working the crowds for eight hours looking for rogue vendors."
What a waste! All they had to do was wait until half way through the first quarter and NO ONE would have bought any U merchandise.
Greed, thy name is Utah.
Euroskeptic,
And, during the rivalry game, anyone wanting cougar gear only had to stop out front of LES in the 3rd quarter and see the empty bandwagon as people were piling their Y gear on it. Could of had all you wanted for Free.
The U is combating something that pretends to be the real thing? Isn't that sort of piling on a bit much after beating them 54-10?

As long as you don't wear any 'Quest or 'Band t-shirts, you're ok.
I have my University of Southern Cal shirt on. Go Cold Fusion
I support this action 100% and always makes sure that my purchases are marked with proper licensing tags. The knockoffs are wrong and I'm somewhat dismayed at the byu fans on this board making light of it. Where are your standards, now?
@RSailing
On gameday, I wear red shirt and blue underwear....
Quick lesson in lisensed apparel. Whether it's Under Armour, Nike, Reebok, Addidas, etc, in the business there's a clause called 'End item buying". This means a company or any other buyer can purchase clothing and apply there own label in it. There are only 4 tee shirt manufactures in the U.S. You think Nike and company makes their own tees.....not at all. The truth folks, your buying a Hanes,Gildan, Jerzee, from one of the big tee shirt companies. then Under Armour, Nike, etc put their labels in it, and sell it for 200 to 300% mark up.The funny thing...people think that because they're wearing a Nike or Under Armour, or etc that it's a better quality item....wrong. The difference....the weight of the material. You want to know the real kicker....they're buying tees for $1.90 a shirt, whites and light colored for less than that, and a hoodie for around $9.50 to $11.00 per peice. I know, I'm a screen printer and I know this business inside and out.
I'm just going to continue purchasing the items I like, for the best price I can find. Go Utes!
greed, greed, greed
Raised ticket prices, increased student fees, and now apparel gestapo roaming the crowds at Utah football games -- greed is running rampant on the hill.
If Dr. Hill hadn't been so desperate to join the PAC 12 as a 2nd-class citizen, Utah wouldn't have to gouge its fans to keep the athletic department afloat for the next four years.
So happy I don't get my Hanes in a bundle over clothing....
I'm just glad Utah stuff is in such high demand that we can argue about what we pay and where we buy it.
When I became a fan back in 1980 there was not a lot of interest in Utah appreal.
Go Utes!
Love the little catfight between the cheapskate ute "fan" like gonefishn and the clueless utah "fans" like utahute16 that pac12proud that will let themselves get ripped off without a complaint.
LOL!
Quack (or is it Kenny G?)
Love the troll whose team suffered a 44 point beatdown and is wallowing in mediocrity, hanging around on Utah articles.
LOL!

Unlike some school down south that survives on church money, Utah does not have that.
