Wow, creepy is not a crime but this guy is downright perverted and a probable cause of threat to ANY woman.

And what have the leaders in the LDS church been reporting about the porn statistics among members of the church? Its high .. very very high. Is DN going to print all their names in the paper -- the ones where porn is a problem in their families, which resulted in divorce? Are the readers going to start demanding that all their children be removed from their homes? Many people with porn problems are your neighbors, your ward members, people you may work with, people you see on a day-to-day basis, perhaps some of the board posters. Why toss this person's 1992 divorce history in the paper? How about taking a good look around you. Porn is a HUGE problem. This is far from unique to Steven Powell.

I see where you're going, and I'd normally agree. We're far too eager to condemn strangers for things that we would justify for ourselves or our friends and family.

However, watching porn in a hotel with a young daughter is not normal, and could lead to worse than watching porn. Photographing and videoing neighbors change clothes, bathe, and go to the bathroom is not normal. I'm not a violent man, but if I caught someone doing that to my wife, there would be a fight, and I don't even wan to think about what I'd do if I caught someone videoing my young daughter.

Often with news cases we're too quick to judge, but with the way the Powell men have handled themselves since Susan went missing horrifies me. If my wife was missing, I'd be looking, and if I knew my dad had a history like this, I wouldn't move in with my kids.

No one has said that pornography was unique to Steve Powell, but only that it has been an on-going problem in his life, a problem that has split his family in two. Is it worth it? Absolutely not. It destroys homes and destroys families. The evidence is clear. We are reading of two homes that it has destroyed. If you have a problem (meaning you look at it), then you should seek professional or clerical help. Don't ignore the issue. Remove it. It is a bad drug.

Now it is clear that Josh has sided with his dad in the family split. That doesn't mean that the two are of the same mold, but it does point to similar thought processes. They say they had the same taste in women. They agreed that Susan's diaries should be published. They agreed that the other in-laws should not have access to the grandsons. Have there been any disagreements between the two?

Please don't let it effect the next generation of their family as well. Keep those boys in a good stable home away from these two.

any guesses on how many talks will mention this sordid subject this weekend in Conference? One of the perverse evils of our time....

Thank you, Proud Father, for saying it like it is! Steven Powell's behavior BEFORE Susan married into his family was not normal, which informs me that his behavior after she arrived likely continued to be abnormal. Learning now about the incident in the hotel room with his 12-year-old daughter speaks volumes about this man's behavior/intentions. Thank you DN for reporting these specifics. Please, ClarkKent, let's not worry for one second about the light of truth being shined on those who have had similar inclinations/behaviors. Let's focus our concern on their victims instead.

Just when you don't think a human being could sink any further, we learn more about Steven Powell. With Steven Powell as a father and example to Josh, it would seem Josh never had a chance to be a decent husband and father.

I am perplexed why Josh would move so quickly to a home in Washington when he just found out his wife was missing. The home he took his 2 & 4 year-old boys to had a grandfather with a history of 19 years of pornography addiction, enough so his wife divorced him and make it public in court documents. Josh knew of this problem and what was happening between Joshs father and Joshs wife. Susan came to Utah to get away from direct access by the father-in-law. She appears to have been the money maker and Josh was the loner. He appears to be such a control freak, especially not allowing the Cox grandparents to enjoy the two boys, before and after Susan ended up missing. It appears that Josh didnt do any hunting for Susan. He didnt want to make the mistake of Mark Hacking standing around and watching the hunt by the general public. He wanted the boys out of the way of being interrogated. Josh would not cooperate with the police authorities, whether in Utah, such as Juab, West Valley City, Tooele or in Washington with Pierce county or Puyallup.

Well it looks like ClarkKent wins for the first to throw the LDS church into the story. Good Grief!

Steven Powell, you wanted to expose Susan's alleged bad behavior but now it looks like the finger you pointed at her has made it so 3 are pointing right back at you.

I'm sure we are hearing the whole story in this news snippet. Trotting out divorce details is a risky way to report "news" since exaggerations are almost always made. I'm not defending anyone, but come on, news used to be about reporting facts, not dredging up old court documents that are a "he-said, she-said" divorce where neither side tells the whole truth and stretches the actual truth to get what they want.

Steven Powell's daughter said she left his home as a direct result of his porn addiction. Since he's currently sitting in jail on porn charges there may be just a wee bit of truth in his ex-wife's 'she-said'.

Okay, Rifleman, just to play devil's advocate here - what do what Steven Powell's divorce papers have to do with the disappearance of Susan Powell? People get divorced every day, yet I never see the details of those divorces trotted out for the world to read. Like I said - I'm not defending anyone here. If the charges against him are true, he is a truly criminally sick man and should be locked away, but it seems to be a bit of a stretch to link his divorce and porn problem to the disappearance of Susan Powell. Everyone appears to be punishing Josh Powell because of the actions of his father. Once again, I'm not defending anyone here.

I am not a reporter but the proof is in the pudding for Steve Powell with his alleged problems with pornography that appear to haven't changed since 1992. His children and wife appear to be in agreement with that. Josh always mention that he hasn't been involved with illegal pornography. He just have researched that term so he can get around his pornography viewing as far as custody of the children. He always highlights "Illegal".

The Dixie Kid -- it is the unfair reporting by DN I was talking about. I offered another post giving specific examples of the DN barely giving any attention whatsoever to members of the church who has been CONVICTED of molesting children and of course they chose not to post that one. It is very very obvious how the DN slants their news. Sweep some under the rug (ie members of the church) and blast others who are not.

Hey Clark, But what does the LDS church have anything to do with this article? Why didn't you say "The stats for the Catholic church and porn addiction are high...."? You basically just wanted to throw the Church into the article just to satisfy whatever issue you have with the Church. Or at least that's the way your post sure looks to others.

Justice will previal in this case. Enough said.

Because the LDS church owns DN. Duh. My issue is with the slanted reporting.

Although many people get divorced and/or have porn addictions, the main point here is that a woman has gone missing, her husband couldnt care less that she is gone, has purposefully isolated their two children from other relatives, her father-in-law has constantly objectified her as a scarlet woman and both blame her for missing in the first place. There is always a strong correlation between porn and various crimes. . The world is replete with confessions of people who admit that porn was the catalyst that pushed them over the edge to commit serious crimes, such as rape and murder.
