Good point by M. Johnson. If we get the ball near the goal line on that last
punt, there is the risk of getting a safety. However, I was at the game and our
running game seemed capable of getting a couple of yards on every play. With
Turbin in the backfield, they could punch it out of a hole without too much
risk. I agree that I'd rather take that risk than trying to catch a high punt
with about 6 CSU players standing around me. We've got to be more disciplined
and focussed on what makes sense every time a ball is punted. This starts with
we're 5 points away from being undefeted... scoreboard is scoreboard!
I agree about the two special teams plays being the difference. But, get the
ball on the 1 and USU is not necessarily out of the woods. There is a risk of a
safety, closing the gap to 6 and giving the ball back to CSU. But, I would
rather take that risk than take the risk of turning it over in a muff.
Skilled, but dense = USU.
I'm glad we're highly ranked in these statistical categories. But, our record
is only 1-2. This is because of terrible special teams play. If we properly
handle and on side kick and GET OUT OF THE WAY of Saturday's closing punt, we're
3-0 right now. It's a shame that the Aggies don't have a better record.
Everyone's worked too hard to be 1-2. We must fix these focus issues with
Special Teams NOW. CSU was obviously punting high and short all night long to
keep it away from Kerwyn Williams. After the first fumbled punt, we started
just getting out of the way. WHY IN THE WORLD DID WE TRY TO FIELD THAT LAST
PUNT? GET OUT OF THE WAY!!! This one is on the coach. He should have told
everyone to just get of the way and game's over - USU wins 21-13. But no, we
have to try to catch it. Unbelievable!!! IF CSU downs it on the 1 yard line -
WHO CARES!!! We still win! Lets get some common sense and focus going on
special teams right NOW before the BYU game. Change the special teams coach if
