BYUs numbers will increase a lot next week. Finally they face a terribly weak defense. Look how many teams score on them! BYU will not have a losing record the rest of the season. The days of facing fantastic defenses are over. BYU will not see defenses like these first four games all season, except maybe TCU, but theirs is not all that great.

This was an important game. And it was a good win for BYU. What stands out most for me was the continued effort in the fourth quarter.

Heaps is still weak. This game was plainly won by the special teams and the defense (even if the D did give up a few big plays). Very good play there, especially on the special teams.

After taking a beating from Utah, BYU really needed to come back and gain some credibility and respect. But I think the real test right now for BYU comes against Utah State. Utah State is looking good this year, and BYU needs to give them their full attention.

Anyway, I hope BYU keeps on winning. (I know I'm a Ute fan, but, hey, if BYU wins out from here, Utah just looks better and better. (Assuming Utah can also keep winning.))

Good luck Cougs!

No way byu beats tcu or utah state.

Tonights win doesn't really mean anything, case in point; From Jeff Calls article; BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall doesn't consider tonight's game a "must-win" situation. "I see this game as a chance to move forward," he said.

So I guess this UCF win isn't that big of a deal! Its just a move forward.

Seeing the game live, I felt like BYU had a good chance to win the game as the second half progressed.

Mostly it seemed to be a better attitude, in spite of many mistakes, by the players. I think that helped in getting the turnovers.

Note this:

1. In games BYU's won, they've played crappy in the first half, then better in the second half.

2. In games BYU's lost, they've played good in the first half, but crappy in the second.

Sounds like BYU has a new MO: start slow, finish fast.

You are still a non aq. Destroyed by your rival. Season is essentially over. I love it. The focus of football will be on Utah and only Utah the rest of the season as we march to the rose bowl.

BYU's offensive line out-weighed UCF's defensive line by how much, man to man?
And we racked up less than 150 yds rushing? And Jake couldn't connect on 50% of his passes from behind that wall?

I do not understand the Cougar's offensive mindset or strategy. If it hadn't been for special teams play, kickoff return, punt recovery, Stephenson's leg, it sounds like there would have been real trouble "moving forward."

I am all for having a Lark next weekend.

Heaps has been outplayed at the quarterback position in EVERY game thus far. Actually he was outplayed by TWO quarterbacks last night. Utah State will be no different. Heaps will be very ordinary and in the end, the defense will give BYU a chance to win. Time for Lark?
