I still feel now as I did earlier in the week. If BYU scores early the game will be ours. If the Cougars start slowly and it's close in the 3rd quarter, it won't be pretty for the Y.

I like the 24 - 21 victory predictions for the Men in blue! Go Cougars!

Ok, so Utah bolted the MWC and didn't look all that great!!

TCU gets beat in a "NO" defensive game at Baylor and they're bolting to the Big East from the MWC.

BYU loses tomorrow at Ole Miss and they're going to claim their INDEPENDENCE!!

    Good riddance!

    BYU by 14. Minimum.

BYU's schedule just received another downgrade.

TCU, arguably the best team on the Cougars schedule was beaten tonight by Baylor, a bonafide BIG 12 bottom dweller.

    BYU will slaughter Ole Mess..

If BYU can get by Texas...

Now that TCU has been exposed, BYU should easily run the table.

The only thing holding the Cougars back from BCS Stardom might be Strength of Schedule or an occasional upset along the way.

I still can't see Ole Miss putting up any points on us.

BYU has a more balanced attack offensively and Ole Miss returns just 4 starters from a bad defense a year ago. I think there will be some big opportunities for mismatches that BYU can take advantage of. Ole Miss may have some success running the ball but it wont be enough.

    BYU 34 Ole Miss 21

For those fretting about the humidity, it can indeed be horrible, but the game time forcasts are for the low 30s - not the 60s and 70s that will happen later in the night. It could have been bad, but I think we are lucking out on the humidity.

BYU will win this game - pulling away in the second half -- by two touchdowns or more. I'd be very surprised if Ole Miss is in the game come the fourth quarter. Heaps will have 350+ yards.

This is a warm up game for Texas next week.

Even with a deep defense, if the offense can sustain drive and put points up early, BYU should pull out a win. If BYU has early turnovers or can't sustain any early drives, could get ugly. I see the Cougs winning by 10. (I am a biased homer)

Did I read that right...their one returning LB is 5'9" 226? And our TEs are all, what 6'4" 6'6" or something like that? Sounds like a great time for the resurgance of the TE at BYU.

BYU defense will play solid. Old Miss will score between 10 and 21.
BYU offense will prove to potent. BYU will score between 24 and 35.
Mark it down...unless I am wrong, then just throw it away.
    BYU football tomorrow!

Season is here! I fear the Humidity more than ole Miss. Humidity is a killer, literally so the players better be ready for that. If the cougs can stick to their game plan and avoid losses to the humidity BYU chould be just fine. I won't predict a blowout, but I do feel that victory is mroe likely than loss.

Ole Miss is inexperienced all over the defense, no db's, no linebackers and only have an experienced Oline and RB on offense.

    BYU should handle this one.

    BYU 37
    Ole Miss 10

BYU is favored by 3 points. Look for the cougs to air it out and take on that weak secondary. BYU's defensive line will be tested with the run game from Ole Miss, but BYU's linebackers should have a solid afternoon.

Prediction: BYU 31 Ole Miss 21

    Best line from the article

The rotating options look strong, with junior college transfer Hebron Fangupo, 6-1, 331, leading the way.

Love it!!! Hilarious. That junior college that Fangupo transferred from probably isn't going to postseason success anyway, so it is a good step up for Hebron. (Someone from Corona is probably having a fit right now. hehe)

If we don't score more than 30, that probably means we're either turning it over or Ole Miss has the ball for very long periods. If we score 21 or 24 points, then I'm a bit worried. I think we need to score 35 or so to win.

So if BYU wins are you going to come on here and give them credit for beating "an SEC team that is loaded with future NFL talent" on the road in "killer humidity", or are you going to write it off as just a win over a bottom tier SEC team? I will be watching you.

    BYU 27

"Its always hard to determine what will happen during the first game of any season."

Ole Miss is familiar with that. They lost to FCS team Jacksonville State 49-48 in 2OT last year.

28-14 BYU comes out of there, brand new quarterback, and a really bad defense on ole miss.

BYU always starts slow plus they are playing in killer humidity plus they are playing an SEC team that is loaded with future NFL talent. 35-17 for Ole Miss. If the game were in Provo at 5000 feet then I would say 28-27 for BYU.

Any SEC team is good - better athletes , bigger and faster. Add to this the humidity and the big fan base and you have a potential blow out. BYU always starts slow so I suspect we will see something like 5 turnovers for the Y and a half time score of 28 - 3 for Ole Miss. BYU will wake up in the second half and the game will end 35 - 17 for ole Miss. Too much speed, too many athletes and too much humidity.

Against a decent Ol' Miss team I'll be happy with a 24-20 win.

I'm just stoked that the season has begun!

This will be a close game, and making the most of each offensive possession will be the deciding factor in whether or not BYU wins it. I think they will, 24-13.

Chris B must be slipping. He is more excited about BYU articles than any of us. I can't believe 17 minutes have passed without his inane babble. Prediction: He will claim a BYU loss due to "lack of speed", and then his excuse tomorrow after BYU wins will be "Ole Miss is terrible".
